Which is better, alkyd or oil paint? What is the difference between enamel and oil paint? Terminology and composition, types of enamel paints. Applying alkyd coating to oil

Ordinary paint is a fairly viscous suspension. The paint is created on the basis of drying oil, oil, latex and emulsion. Also, its composition must necessarily include substances that form a film on the surface and coloring pigments. Film-forming substances are a binding base, due to which, after drying, an opaque hard film is formed on the painted surface. Also, the paint must contain solvents so that the material takes on a form that is as convenient as possible for application.

Or do you not know what color this is? We offer about two hundred shades of these colors, which we do not mix on principle, and we can repair the varnish or plug at any time, and we are confident that the shade will be exactly what we require. In this menu you can find pastel shades or classic metallic. The top of the offering is electric paint, these are deep metallic ones for which silver metallic paint or a shade of pearl white is sprayed on a white base. Pearl metal has a finer grain structure.

Exist different kinds paints – water-dispersion, silicate, adhesive, artistic. Their properties usually depend on the film-forming material that is included in their composition. They are usually used to create a protective layer on the surface.

Enamel: concept and properties

Enamel is usually called a suspension of pigments prepared on the basis of varnish. When dry, the enamel forms an opaque film with a matte or glossy texture. This coating has excellent decorative properties. The protective characteristics of enamels are much higher than those of oil paints.

It can also be used with gold metallic, which then makes it darker. The final electric coat finish is actually a clear, clear colored varnish that has the added benefit of not darkening even after six coats of paint. There is always a double or multiple boost in the center muffler or head pipe, so the color is always darker in those areas. Electric colors have the rare ability to darken more. If we spray six layers on individual pipes, there are more layers in the joints, but they are not known in the shade.

The enamels contain a large number of film-forming substance and a small percentage of fillers. The drying process for an enamel-coated surface usually takes up to six hours. The main feature of enamels can be considered the presence of finely dispersed pigment in their composition. The concentration of this pigment is quite high. This is why enamel paints are best suited for working with metallics. Unlike oil paints, enamels are practically not washed out by solvents. Before use, it is recommended to mix them thoroughly so that separation into separate fractions is insignificant.

Plus, this transparent color really gives the impression of being very deep. metal coating. Several layers of paint and a pearl or silver base give the paint true depth and the same shade even in all the folds. All colors we use can be changed to matte. The matte varnish is just a final overlay so we can give the entire frame a matte finish including the labels. Matte varnish is actually this thick opaque soapy water that is slightly overpowering color design.

The main differences between paint and enamel

There are several main differences between paints and enamels. Any paint contains a large number of fillers, while enamels mainly consist of substances that form a film.

Unlike paints, enamels often have a sharp, unpleasant smell due to the presence of varnishes in their composition. By the way, modern paints High Quality may have no odor at all. But enamel protects the surface much better from ultraviolet rays, temperature changes and other environmental influences.

Consequently, interesting shades are combined to create a combination of metallic colors that are a little more subtle and give them a different look than when using glitter. The top of the offer are the special effects that can be applied, such as imitation metal. We know of other colors that imitate brushed aluminum, carbon and many other looks for cracked varnish that looks like the bike has been ridden for at least twenty years. We are used to signing our work, and this applies to painting.

If you do renovations in an apartment with your own hands, without involving specialists, many may be faced with the question of choosing paint. What paint to choose, what to pay attention to, what kind of paints are there? All answers to these questions can be found by reading this article.

It's no secret that the quality and durability of the paint you purchase lies in its composition, and not in the price. However good paint can't be cheap.

Almost everything paints and varnishes, are produced using the same technology. Such materials must contain a binder base, pigments, fillers and special additives.

You can find all the information about water-based (water-dispersion) paints

On the contrary, we are ready to satisfy your individual requirements, and together we can create completely original paint. Very often we meet this requirement, and it is no exception that we refurbish completely new wheels, just to give their owners a different look. Very often our proposals are sports teams that change sponsors and therefore the appearance of their bikes. It is no coincidence that our proposal was also used by the famous artist, designer, film director and costume designer Teodor Pištek.

Binding base- This is a material that promotes the formation of a film on the surface of the paint.

Pigment– gives the paint its original color.

Filler– gives the paint its properties (strength, shine, etc.) helping to save the use of pigment.

Special Additives– which add fire resistance to the paint, help protect against mold and carry other additional functions.

What happens to the drawing frame

Customizing wheels doesn't end with the frame and fork, they are usually painted to match the color of the wheel and boots, rims, baskets or hubs and other components. Stickers can also be applied to them and glazed. The basis good varnish- ideal removal of old varnish residues, corrosion, dirt and especially grease. Depending on the type of frame, a chemical bath is also used where the frame is leaking. After rinsing and drying, the frame is sanded or removed using fine cast iron granules.

Good paint contains on average from 8 to 16 components. The quality of the paint will depend on what components are selected and with what technology they are mixed.

All paints used in repairs and the construction industry have a specific classification and direction of use. Therefore, in order to take exactly the paint you need, you need to know the main components and marking options, but more on that a little later.

The grinding process is actually a perfect degreasing process, so we can arbitrarily adjust the bending power according to the thickness of the material. Of course, all holes must be plugged for spring loaded forks or individual parts plumes and ideally protect bearing surfaces from bearing damage. The sanding frame with properly compressed air is removed from any remaining dirt and is ready for spraying. At this stage, the surface of the material is very finely porous, and the base paint is ready to almost absorb to ensure good adhesion.

Currently, the undisputed leader in sales are water-based or water-dispersion paints. In this article we will not talk about these paints; a separate section is devoted to water-based paints. .

Let's pay a little attention to the main nuances when choosing paint. When buying paint, it is important to understand that you are not buying the volume of paint, but the surface area (usually indicated on the label of the can) that you can paint with it.

At this stage the frame should not even reach your bare hands to protect it from any moisture, even from our own hands. Ideally, the frame is sprayed with base paint immediately after the blast. The shorter the time that any moisture in the air can cause damage to the frame, the greater the confidence that the paint quality will be 100%.

The base paint is applied in pure white to increase the brightness of light colors or vice versa in black, which gives a better appearance dark shades. Another advantage is that if damaged, scratches in dark varnish do not stain another layer of light base. In alloy frames, a special base paint is used, which has elastic capabilities and adheres better to these frames. It can be sprayed even on greasy components, or it can be used in areas with high stress on the saddle bolt and the like.

Another important parameter that you should pay attention to when purchasing paint is the drying time. It is not uncommon for manufacturers to indicate this parameter on the labeling of the can.

Paint adhesion, that is, its ability to stick to the surface being painted, thereby creating a high-quality paint layer.

Pay attention to the viscosity of the product. Paint that is too viscous will be difficult to apply to the surface and clog the spray gun. Liquid paint will fly in different directions and leave smudges on the surface. To obtain an optimal viscosity state, manufacturers introduce thixotropic additives into the paint. These additions make the paint soft and prevent it from creating smudges and splashing.

In the case of simple pastel painting, a layer of your own color is applied to the base coat after it has dried slightly. The paintwork is colored differently. First, a full coat of metallic color, followed by six coats of clear color. The varnished frame is soaked in the oven and is ready for marking. In case a part of the frame goes to a sharp change to another color, after burning, this part is sealed with a special tape, it comes with a second shade, fake and cardboard box, and the entire bandage is removed.

Despite the high prevalence water-based paints, in charge of repair and construction work There is no way to do without paints and varnishes.

Alkyd enamels

Despite the low environmental qualities, they will find their use in repairs for the treatment of materials and surfaces exposed to significant atmospheric influences. alkyd enamels. Such enamels have a large selection of colors and shades and are more resistant to destructive weather conditions. Surfaces coated with alkyd enamels, after drying, have a stable film that protects the coating from external influences. Depending on the type of color, alkyd enamels can be either glossy or matte.

If there is more color in the frame, repeat the procedure after each shade. Before gluing the stickers, the seams should be slightly crushed so that the sharp edge of the transition is not known. If all the spray is finished, the frame is completely covered with the stickers that come with it. These decals are first coated with a very thin coating solution. After drying, the entire frame is completely painted. The finished frame is dried and completely torn, so that the thickness of the stickers, which moved from five hundred millimeters, is no less noticeable.

The advantage of such labels is higher resistance to washing and, of course, a more exclusive appearance. This procedure is usually repeated at least twice. In some cases, the decals are deliberately stronger, which makes for a plastic and very elegant impression, especially on road wheels.

The disadvantages of such paints are the long drying process from 3 hours to several days, the presence of a pungent toxic odor during drying and low vapor permeability.

Main components alkyd enamels, is an alkyd (or pentaphthalic, glyphthalic) varnish, solvent, drier (additives to speed up paint drying) and pigments.

The final coat is the final layer of a special varnish, gloss or matte, that protects against UV rays and prevents colors from fading in the sun. At the same time, it gives the paint sufficient rigidity against mechanical damage. Hardness test paint coating carried out in the same way as in the case of cars - a narrow tube is poured with a steel ball at one point on the paint and the thickness of the paint is controlled. This process simulates flying stones on a road or field.

The last phase takes place in a special combustion furnace, which is adapted to two stages of operation. The fire oven has small turbines to circulate the air inside evenly so that the temperature is the same in all places in the room. In the first 20-30 minutes, full heating operates, and the turbines provide clean cold air into the suction line while sucking in heated air, which is additionally saturated with evaporative diluent through special filters from the furnace.

Alkyd enamels can be used to paint almost the entire range of coatings, which cannot but please craftsmen.

Oil paints

Oil paints, despite their obsolescence, still attract artists with their price and quality of surface painting.

Such paints are head and shoulders above alkyd enamels in terms of film coating quality, aesthetics and color. The performance of such paints is also not high in terms of practicality; they are much more easily rendered unusable by water than good water-based paints.

This process is called paint drying. The second part closes the air intake and exhaust valves and activates the thermostat, which maintains the temperature at the required level and air circulates only inside. In this true shelling, the individual layers of colors and varnishes will be interconnected, and their final connection and baking will occur together. The frame is completely finished once removed from the oven and after cooling, which takes a few minutes. All that remains is to clean the metering heads of the head assembly or the surfaces for connecting bearings and bolts and cut off the threads that are on the gearshift frame, baskets or other fasteners.

The structure of oil paints is almost the same type as that of alkyd enamels. The main difference between these types of paints is that the binding element of oil paints, unlike alkyd enamels, is drying oil.

Drying oil, in turn, is a natural product that is made from oils, including sunflower. The main disadvantage of drying oil and, as a consequence, of oil paints, is the negative reaction to light, from which the paint begins to deteriorate.

If the seller has not made the slightest mistake that would immediately appear as a varnish varnish or at least a drop, and everything is in order, the assembly components can begin. Acrylic wood paint is one of the most commonly used wood paints. This color is characterized by a neutral odor and fast drying time. After about 5 hours you can safely add another layer. Also, this is a medium-lasting paint, so using a primer paint is recommended.

Acrylic paint is diluted with water. Best to wear wooden surface with a brush. About 1 liter of paint should be enough for 10-15 m2 of surface. So-called. "Acrylic" is intended for wooden furniture subject to light use, such as chests of drawers, chests of drawers or secretaries.

Despite a large number of disadvantages, oil paints have a high degree of fillability, which has a positive effect on the cost-effectiveness of their use. It is advisable to use such paints as a primer.

What is the difference between varnish paint and enamel?

Currently, according to GOST, the following are produced: types of oil paints (depending on the film-forming base):

Today, more and more companies are producing acrylic paints. However, there are 11 leading companies that produce such products. I need: - acrylic paint: orange and celadon, - colorless wood, - white candle, - brush, - cube. The collection consists of: aerosol paint in 11 shades 150 ml, acrylic paint for wood and metal in 20. You can paint with regular universal paint. Universal paints Suitable for various types surfaces such as wood, wood, plastic, metal, ceramic tile, often also walls and even glass.

Among the universal enamels we will find acrylic, where. The work table is painted with acrylic paint - it is important to distribute the paint in the same direction as the location. Finally, thoroughly clean the disc with dust, wash with water and dry it. After this prepared furniture can be used for painting water-soluble acrylic enamel for wood. This type of paint is stocked by many companies, among others.

MA-021 (on natural drying oil)

PF-024 (on pentaphthalic drying oil)

MA-025 (on combined drying oil)

Depending on the type of drying oil:

1-natural drying oil

2-"Oxol"

3-glyphthalic drying oil

4-pentaphthalic drying oil

5-combined drying oil

Markings and abbreviations of paints.

As we said above, paints are subject to strict classification according to GOST, so the names for paints are practically not acceptable.

Buy a piece, sometimes it will detail some. And when it was at home, it was decided by the nature of the garden. I need: - a container made of raw wood, - acrylic paint: white, beige, brown, yellow, - decoupage glue; - a napkin with a chosen motif, - a brush, - a template, - polystyrene foam, - a spatula, - paint film, - varnish, white paint with acrylic paint.

In addition to traditional paints, most manufacturers offer wide range products for special effects. These preparations create a coating of various surfaces - velvet, suede, jeans, school board, a natural stone, old wood.

Each paint is named depending on its marking, which is given to the paint according to GOST. Next, we will look at the most popular representatives on the paint market.

Enamel GF-230 (glyphthalic)– this enamel is suitable for conducting interior works(do not paint the floors). The paint has 21 color options (for example: “ Ivory", "lemon", etc.). To apply this paint to the surface you need a brush, roller or spray gun. Drying time up to 24 hours.
