Vinyl tile laying technology. Vinyl tile laying process. Laying vinyl tiles on the floor

The method of installing vinyl flooring depends on its type, which determines the shape and design of the floor elements. Polyvinyl chloride products intended for floor covering are presented in roll materials with a web width of 2-2.5 m; tiles 300x600 mm, having a self-adhesive base or a locking connection; laminated modules having dimensions of 100x920 or 180x920 mm.

In turn, the above products have different attachment designs to the base and to each other:

  • Covers with lock. They consist of elements that fit together using a tongue-and-groove system. This allows them to be installed with high speed. Tiles and laminated modules are equipped with locking fasteners. Their installation requires a completely flat subfloor.
  • Self-adhesive coatings. Their elements are tiles that have an adhesive layer on the back side, protected before laying the material with a special film. The requirements for the base surface here are not as categorical as in the previous case. It may be relatively smooth, but not loose.
  • Adhesive coatings. This is a regular vinyl tile and roll material. To attach them to the floor, a special glue recommended by the PVC coating manufacturer is used. Other adhesives should not be used, since the reliability of fixation of the coating to the base surface in this case is not guaranteed.

Preparatory work before installing vinyl flooring

To properly install vinyl flooring, you need a clean, dry, and level base. Polyvinyl chloride does not allow moisture to pass through from the ceiling. Therefore, if it is not sufficiently dry before cladding, water vapor will condense in the enclosed space between the base and finishing material, destroying the layer of glue that fixes the coating. This will inevitably lead to peeling.

The permissible moisture content of the base should not exceed 5%. It can be accurately determined using a hygrometer or approximately another method. It is as follows. On the surface of the floor you need to secure a piece of plastic film with tape and leave it for a day. If after this time no drops of condensation appear under the film, the humidity of the base is normal and it is suitable for cladding. Otherwise, it should be dried.

Leveling the floor surface must be done especially carefully if the vinyl flooring installation technology requires gluing it to the base. For significant surface curvature, use cement-sand screed along beacons, with small differences in base height - self-leveling liquid mixtures. Interlocking vinyl flooring, which does not require adhesive, can even be installed over old floor finishes. Treatment of the base in such cases often comes down to only sealing its deep cracks.

After cleaning the floor from dust, debris and applying a leveling screed, it must be left to dry and then treated primer composition to ensure future adhesion of the coating adhesive to the base. Primer is not necessary before installing interlocking vinyl.

To successfully install vinyl flooring, the room temperature should be 15-25 degrees Celsius, and the humidity should be no more than 60%. Before installation, the coating should be adapted to the new location. From the moment it is brought into the room until unpacking, 24 to 48 hours should pass, depending on the time of year.

To mark the floor before tiling you will need a tape measure, paint cord and a pencil. To cut vinyl modules or sheets in places where they adjoin walls or utility outlets, you will need a construction knife and a metal square. If the material will be attached to the base with glue, you should stock up with a spatula, rubber roller and sponge.

Vinyl flooring installation technology

As mentioned above, vinyl flooring materials are available in the form of laminated modules, tiles and rolls. Let's look at the order of their installation separately.

Laying vinyl tiles on the floor

Before installing it, it is necessary to remove the old coating, concrete deposits on the surface, protruding reinforcement, and then level, dry and prime the base. Further work is performed as follows.

Vinyl tiles are laid from the center of the room to the walls. Therefore, it should be determined using markings that will consist of two intersecting lines. If the tiles will be laid perpendicular to the sides of the floor, you should find the midpoints of the walls located opposite each other and connect their marks with straight lines along the base. From the point of their intersection you need to start installing the tiles. In this case, the floor will be divided into 4 equal rectangular sections. Lines can be drawn on it using a painting cord.

In the case of diagonal tile laying, the center of the floor is determined by drawing two lines on it, connecting the opposite corners of the room. The result of this marking will be four triangular sections of the floor. In both cases, the facing of each part must be started one by one.

To install a self-adhesive vinyl floor, you need to remove the protective film from the back of the tile and immediately attach the product to the base along its marking line. When laying the remaining tiles, you should align them tightly along the side edges. After tiling the first section of the floor, you can move on to the next, proceeding in the same way.

To cover the junctions of the floor covering with walls and other obstacles, the tiles should be pre-prepared by cutting to the appropriate dimensions. The rest of the work is done in the usual way. To complete the laying of the material, it is necessary to roll its outer surface with a rubber roller, this increases the adhesion force of the tile to the base.

Tiles that require adhesive to attach are also easy to install. Before starting work, please read the cooking instructions. binder mortar on acrylic base. Its consumption usually does not exceed 0.5 kg/m2. It is not advisable to stock up too much glue “in reserve”. This will lead to unjustified overuse; the excess may appear as bumps on the tile and will have to be removed anyway.

The adhesive mixture should be applied to the floor area to be covered with a notched trowel. You should not cover a large surface area with glue at once, as it can quickly thicken, and then it will not be possible to properly glue the tiles. The position of glued products can be adjusted within 15-20 minutes.

After laying vinyl floor tiles, the surface of the finished covering must be rolled in all directions with a rubber roller. Excess adhesive that appears at the joints of the tiles should be removed with a clean, dry cloth. The frozen composition is removed with a rag and ethyl alcohol.

After 30-40 minutes, you need to apply the coating again with a roller. In this case, each cladding element should be inspected for adhesion to the base surface, Special attention It is recommended to apply it to the corners of glued tiles.

To give products the desired shape or adjust them to the required dimensions, markings should first be applied to the material. After this, the line must be cut to half the thickness of the tile, bend the product, and then completely separate the selected part with a sharp knife.

Wet cleaning of a coating made up of adhesive modules can be done no earlier than 5 days after completion of work. Furniture placement is allowed after two days.

How to lay roll vinyl material on the floor

Before laying it, it is necessary to remove protruding nails, fittings and debris from the floor surface. After this, you need to clean the floor from dirt and dust using water and a rag, and then dry it.

Next, you should measure the length of the longitudinal walls with a tape measure and, in accordance with its value, cut the roll of vinyl covering into separate sheets. The geometric shape of the room may not be ideal, so it is advisable to take the length of the canvases a little longer than necessary.

All strips must be laid out dry over the entire floor and the material must be adjusted to the size of the room, cutting off excess from the strips on the protrusions of the outer corners of the walls and other junctions.

To apply vinyl strips to the floor, you will need a special adhesive designed specifically for this material. Any universal compositions are not suitable. The adhesive should be prepared according to the manufacturer's instructions for the vinyl covering.

After this, the canvas must be wrapped from the wall to its middle. Apply a layer of glue evenly with a spatula to the freed area of the floor. Then the wrapped half of the canvas needs to be returned to its original position on the area treated with glue. Using even pressure with your hands, it is recommended to press the canvas to the surface until it is fixed.

A similar procedure should be done with the second half of the canvas. All other strips of vinyl covering are attached to the base in the same way. Possible glue stains or other contaminants on the surface can be removed with a cloth and some suitable solvent.

After completing installation of vinyl flooring roll material it is necessary to roll it with a roller to securely attach it to the base and smooth out small irregularities.

Installation of vinyl laminated modules

Laminated vinyl modules can have locking connections and adhesive attachment to the base. Laminate, which is laid without gluing to the base using the so-called “floating floor” technology, does not require careful leveling. It is enough to fill only deep cracks on the base surface with putty. Its permissible differences in this case can be up to 3 mm per square meter area.

Laminated modules of some types of material can even be laid on an old finishing coating. In any case, the base must be cleared of debris and dust, since all this can get on the adhesive lock of the product during its installation.

Installation of vinyl panels with locks is very quick and does not require preliminary marking of the base. It starts from the furthest wall of the room from one of its corners. Here the first modules are attached to each other on the floor, with which the entire surface is then gradually filled. Vinyl flooring is installed towards the exit of the room.

Installation of adhesive vinyl laminate requires marking the base. It is performed in the same way as in the case of vinyl tiles described above. After dividing the floor along center lines into 4 sections, laying the modules should begin with the one that is furthest away from front door. The first panels are mounted from the center of the room.

The glue should be applied to the base using a notched trowel. When the layer dries a little, you can lay vinyl panels on it. During the work process, it is necessary to pay special attention to the edges and corners of the modules. Their joining should be smooth, and the fit to the base should be tight.

All excess glue from the surface of the panels that has emerged through the seams must be removed using a soap solution and a clean rag. Wet cleaning of a new floor can be done no earlier than a day after the installation of the covering is completed, and interior items and furniture can be brought into the room no earlier than two days.

During this time, the glue under the vinyl coating will completely harden and gain the necessary strength. It is waterproof, so this composition can be safely used for vinyl flooring in the bathroom. Self-adhesive laminate does not require such precautions. The coating can be used immediately after its installation.

Features of caring for vinyl flooring

During the entire period of operation, you must be able to properly care for the laid coating. To prevent a lot of dirt and sand from falling on it, which contribute to premature abrasion of the floor, it is recommended to lay mats near the entrance that can absorb abrasive particles of debris.

Vinyl tiles should be washed with neutral detergents, which should not contain ammonia and bleach. There are special cleaning agents for such coatings. Use household chemicals for washing dishes, various washing powders and soap is not recommended for removing food stains on the floor.

The best option cleaners for vinyl kitchen floors, for example, are biodegradable. They leave no residue and do not require rinsing with water. The same products are recommended for removing stains on vinyl flooring.

After finishing wet cleaning, the floor must be wiped with a dry cloth. Polishing machines are used to clean heavily soiled vinyl surfaces.

For finishing the floor modern market offers many materials that are distinguished by strength, wear resistance, durability, external beauty and texture. One of the most popular options is vinyl tiles. What are its features and why is it so popular, you will learn from this article.

Vinyl floor tiles are an environmentally friendly material with a multi-layer structure. Depending on the specific manufacturer, the components may differ, but most often technologists use the following combination:

  1. A relief layer of the bottom base made of plastic, which prevents dust and moisture from entering from the subfloor, dampens impact noise and vibration.
  2. Reinforcing bottom and intermediate layers to strengthen the fabric.
  3. Quartz-vinyl combination, due to which the tiles acquire strength characteristics.
  4. A backing that gives a reflective effect.
  5. The layer is the basis for the artistic design and color of the tile.
  6. Protective translucent layer.
  7. Polyurethane coating, which bears the main protective load, including from UV radiation and moisture.
  8. The finishing layer, which causes the hardening of the canvas and contributes to its solidity.

Advantages of vinyl tiles

Vinyl tiles are an innovative material that combines all the advantages of the most popular flooring options up to this time: the stability of the shape of natural stone, the plasticity of linoleum, the speed and ease of installation of laminate.

Technological features determine the following advantages of this flooring:

  1. Quartz-vinyl tile is a material with high aesthetic characteristics that can visually accurately imitate ceramic tiles, leather decor, marble, granite, parquet, sea pebbles or grass. Accordingly, the design possibilities do not have any restrictions.
  2. Strength and high wear resistance— manufacturers guarantee the absence of any modifications to the material for 10-35 years.
  3. Preservation color palette tiles throughout their entire service life.
  4. Resistance to moisture and temperature, which makes vinyl tiles suitable for installation even in rooms with consistently high or variable temperatures - open areas, swimming pools, bathrooms.
  5. Maintains stable dimensions, regardless of external conditions environment, which completely eliminates deformation, unsticking, tears, chips, scratches, dents or other undesirable consequences.
  6. Absolutely non-flammable due to large quantity mineral components (about 80%), which makes vinyl tiles fireproof.
  7. The composition of quartz-vinyl tiles prevents damage by rodents or the proliferation of harmful bacteria on the surface and in the thickness of the material - this makes it possible to use it in apartments, commercial premises and private cottages without risk.
  8. Convenience and ease of processing - despite the strength, you can quickly cut the necessary elements with a sharp knife if the dimensions of the tiles are not suitable for the implementation of the chosen design idea.
  9. Installation of vinyl tiles even involves finishing hard-to-reach areas, which does not cause any difficulties.
  10. Easy to maintain, since the tiles attract little dust due to the antistatic layer, and you can use any means to wash them without the risk of damage.
  11. Affordable price.
  12. The anti-slip effect is combined with a soft and pleasant texture that is felt when walking.

Important! The only drawback of vinyl tiles is its synthetic origin. But since it does not cause any harm to human health, this minus is rather relative than worthy of close attention.

Types of Vinyl Tiles

Classification of types of vinyl tiles is carried out according to 2 criteria:

  1. Purpose. This group consists of models for domestic and commercial use. A distinctive feature is the wear resistance class:
    • For household use In residential premises, tiles of class 32-34 with a thickness of protective coating in 0.2-0.3 mm;
    • for commercial (public, industrial, sports premises) - 43 classes with a protective layer thickness of 0.5 mm.
  2. Installation method. Depending on the design features of the tile and the principle of its installation, the following are distinguished:
    • self-adhesive vinyl tiles are the most convenient and easy-to-use material, the back side of which is treated with a special adhesive solution. This ensures strong instant adhesion to any smooth, non-flowing surfaces;
    • interlocking vinyl tiles. This commercial line is equipped with tongue-and-groove fasteners on each tile element. More suitable for arranging those premises in which increased traffic intensity is planned;
    • adhesive coating. To install it, you will need a special adhesive for vinyl tiles, which is present in the product line of each brand that produces itself. decorative material. The main advantage of this vinyl tile is the absence of any restrictions on the rough base.

Important! Determine which option to give preference based on your own execution skills. construction work, as well as the designated budget for floor finishing.

Vinyl tiles - how to lay

There are several general rules How to create vinyl tile flooring:

  1. When laying on a warm water or electric floor, the heating system must be turned off a week before installation. The minimum distance between the wiring with the coolant and the tile itself is 1.5 cm. Mandatory laying of lathing from bars or pouring a polymer or cement screed.
  2. Vinyl tiles cannot be laid by gluing onto soft substrates or foam insulation.
  3. The preparation of the subfloor must be done thoroughly to ensure the longest possible life of the decorative coating.

Preparing the floor for installation of PVC tiles

To obtain a high-quality installation result, manufacturers specify the following requirements:

  1. The humidity of the concrete screed is about 5%.
  2. Complete sealing of cracks, potholes, repair of peeling areas, sharp depressions - for this purpose, local repairs, grinding, scraping or pouring screed are performed.
  3. The base must be rigid and not sag - plywood, GVLV boards, materials such as TsPS, which are laid on logs, are perfect for this purpose.
  4. The absence of cracks and elimination of concrete porosity - it is always easier to do this with putty. This process will prevent excess glue consumption.

Important! Before laying, the vinyl tiles themselves are brought into the room for a day or two and laid out in a horizontal position. This is necessary for the material to “get used” to new conditions. It is desirable that the temperature be between 18-24C.

Marking and cutting

Before laying quartz-vinyl tiles, perform a preliminary layout, mark the position of the tiles and adjust the necessary parts.

For this:

  1. Pre-arrange all the parts, adhering to the chosen pattern. Please note that the center of the room may not necessarily be the center of the entire composition.
  2. Arm yourself with a pencil or marker and mark the locations of all the tiles with center lines.
  3. To cut the material to the desired shape when designing corners, joints, pipe circles, door jambs, first make a template from cardboard. Attach it to the desired element of the floor covering and cut along the contour.

Important! Be careful and precise in your measurements so that the installation does not result in crooked or unsightly wide seams.

Vinyl tile installation

To install self-adhesive vinyl tiles:

  1. Immediately before installation, carefully remove the protective film.
  2. Place the part in the desired place.
  3. Press down and smooth the surface.

Important! If the elements are large or long, do not remove the film all at once, but sequentially in parts.

Interlocking tiles are installed using the same technology as laminate:

  1. Lay the first tile.
  2. Place the next piece at an angle so that the tenon fits into the groove.
  3. Push firmly.

Important! Mount all subsequent elements in the same way.

To lay vinyl tiles with glue, proceed as follows:

  1. Select the appropriate adhesive, paying particular attention to the curing time. Do not take a solution that hardens very quickly so that you have time to correctly lay all the parts of the floor covering, especially if you have no previous experience in performing such work.
  2. Apply adhesive to 1 m2 of base area using a flat V-trowel.
  3. Tile this space without leaving any gaps. Press each piece firmly against the base to allow air to escape.
  4. Roll a rubber roller over the top to smooth the surface.
  5. Remove any exposed adhesive with a damp cloth immediately, without waiting for the solution to harden.
  6. Repeat rolling with the roller after another half hour.
  7. Next, act according to the circumstances: if you can neatly and quickly lay out the parts, you can try to immediately treat a large area with glue - up to 3-5 m2.

Important! After 1 day, wash the floors well, the next day, bring in the furniture and start using the room.

Conclusion

Now you know everything about vinyl tiles and you will probably be able to create a very interesting, non-standard flooring decor with your own hands without any difficulties. The main thing is to think over the desired design in advance, purchase material only from trusted manufacturers and comply with simple rules installation In this case, the result will be of high quality and the aesthetic effect worthy of your home!

What is vinyl tile? This is a composite floor covering with a rich assortment of various shades and colors, as well as imitation of various natural materials for finishing. Vinyl tiles are based on a mixture of ultraviolet-hardened high-strength vinyl and fine chips of natural stone with the addition of plasticizers, due to which, this coating has increased resistance to exposure negative factors environment.

What is vinyl flooring like?

  1. Self-adhesive tiles, square or rectangular shape various parameters . The lower adhesive surface is protected with a special paper coating. carried out by gluing the entire tiled surface to the subfloor.
  2. Vinyl tiles with adhesive tape and interlock joint. IN in this case Full gluing to the surface is not required; simply connecting the tiles together is sufficient.
  3. Roll vinyl covering. This material provides for complete gluing to the base of the floor using special glue.
  4. Vinyl tiles which is using glue.

Important: the strength of its attachment to the surface will directly depend on the choice of one or another vinyl material and, of course, appearance floors: for example, using multi-colored tiles you can create an unusual and stylish design.

Composition of vinyl tiles

  • vinyl, the thickness of which is approximately 0.5 mm;
  • protective layer;
  • layer with a pattern;
  • reinforced middle layer (made of stone chips or a special stabilizer).

Vinyl flooring

It is worth noting that vinyl tiles have almost ideal geometry. This allows you to join its edges in a special way - you get a “solid” effect of the floor covering, and the original patterns only enhance the impression.

Benefits of Vinyl Tiles

Preparing the floor surface for vinyl flooring

First of all, you need to purchase the material. To do this, you need to measure the area of the room, taking into account all the protrusions and niches, and add 5-10% to the obtained parameters in reserve.

After purchase, vinyl tiles should be stored for about 2 days in the room where they will be installed at a temperature of +15 to +20 C.

Installation

Installation of self-adhesive vinyl tiles

Laying such tiles is very easy - you just need to remove the protective paper film from the base, and then press the tile tightly to the floor surface. It is better to arrange the tiles “staggered”, so some of them will have to be cut - this is also not difficult. This material is easily cut with a special knife or scissors.

On the floor surface pre-treated with glue, you need to lay the tiles and carefully press them. Then “roll” the surface with a rubber roller to eliminate excess air. installation

Laying PVC tiles with glue

Installing interlocking vinyl tiles

This type of tile is equipped with a tongue-and-groove locking connection, where the groove and tenon are treated with glue and covered with a protective paper film.

It is recommended to start laying such tiles from the wall: the first row should be positioned with the tenon facing the wall (be sure to cut off this tenon from the initial tiles). There should be a gap of at least 3 mm between the wall surface and the tiles.

Interlocking Vinyl Tile

After the tiles are laid against the wall, it is necessary to remove the protective film from the groove, at the same time remove the paper tape covering the adhesive edge from the top tile. Place the tiles at an angle of 45 C and carefully connect them as smoothly as possible. If it doesn’t work out the first time, then you must immediately carefully separate them and connect them again.

Roll vinyl covering

The technology for laying such a floor is similar to installing tiles with glue, with the only difference being that the entire surface on which the canvas will be placed must be treated with glue. And be sure to inspect the canvas for air bubbles after installation. If they are, then remove them with a roller.

Vinyl floor tiles are an excellent material for decorating a room. It gained its popularity due to the ability to imitate wood, stone, pebbles and other natural materials. Another advantage is the ease of installation with your own hands.

Advantages of vinyl tiles

Vinyl tiles, used for flooring, embodies many of the positive qualities that materials such as linoleum, laminate and natural stone. But with all this, the low cost makes it possible to install vinyl tiles on the floor in every home. Among its main advantages it is worth noting the following:

  • increased strength (the properties of the tile allow it to be used for 10–35 years);
  • opposition external influences(the tiles are not afraid of mechanical damage and moisture, and are also not subject to the spread of fungus and mold);
  • resistance to environment(despite possible unfavorable factors, the original properties, such as color and strength, are maintained throughout the entire period of operation);
  • the ability to combine different shapes and create an original design;
  • ease of care;
  • the ability to carry out repairs yourself if necessary.

Don’t forget about the advantages from a technological point of view:

  • You can trim the material with a regular knife;
  • the tiles have precise geometric contours, which simplifies surface marking;
  • laying on the floor without using a substrate is possible;
  • in comparison with other coatings, self-adhesive tiles are thinner and lighter;
  • You can carry out installation in difficult areas without much difficulty.

It should also be recalled about the affordable cost, environmental friendliness and safety of the material. There are no downsides to using vinyl tiles as flooring.

Design features of tiles

When choosing vinyl floor tiles, the first thing you need to pay attention to is not the shade, but the type of coating. The installation method will depend on this. In the assortment offered in stores, you can find several types of this material, but it is recommended to buy self-adhesive PVC tiles. Its main feature is the possibility of reliable fixation on almost any solid base thanks to the adhesive composition applied on the back side.

In commercial spaces, interlocking tiles are most often used. It allows you to create the effect of floating floors. However, its installation will be a little more difficult. To order individually, you can make vinyl tiles, the ends of which will be treated with glue. The complexity of installation work directly depends on the type of locking system. The best option for use in an apartment remains vinyl floor tiles, where such a system is not available.

In terms of technology, installing vinyl tiles on the floor is not much different from installing ceramic tiles. However, in our case, it is possible to ensure high-quality flooring even on an uneven surface. Laying is done end-to-end, so you don’t have to worry about seam indentations and technological gaps.

There are several types of vinyl floor tiles. Among them you need to choose best option for your home.

  • Class 23–31. The thinnest flooring option that is suitable for living rooms and bedrooms. When installing such material you need to be extremely careful.
  • Class 33–42. A more durable tile that is great for use on bathroom, hallway or kitchen floors.
  • Class 43. The variant with the greatest thickness. Has a non-slip surface that does not form static electricity. Suitable for commercial premises.

Preparatory process

Before you begin laying vinyl tiles on the floor, you need to properly prepare the room for this. Despite the fact that many manufacturers claim that there are no requirements for the base, it is better to take some of them into account:

  • eliminate the most pronounced floor defects, such as cracks, potholes and unevenness;
  • get rid of old paint, varnish and degrease the base;
  • putty all seams and cracks to reduce the cost of adhesive;
  • measure the moisture content of concrete before installation: it should not be more than 5%;
  • Please note that the surface should be as hard and smooth as possible;
  • study all the recommendations of the manufacturer of self-adhesive tiles, pay special attention to permissible temperature air, which should usually be between 18–24 degrees.

If vinyl tiles will be laid on top of a heated floor system, you need to turn on the heating a day before the start of installation work and maintain the temperature in the recommended range. The layer between the equipment and the floor covering must be at least 1.5 cm thick.

It is best to lay PVC boards on a clean base. To do this, you need to completely dismantle the old coating, but sometimes this cannot be done without severe damage. In this case, you can leave the old surface and install it on it. The main condition is the absence of asbestos fibers in the material that will come into contact with the vinyl. Before starting, it is important to dry the existing base as much as possible.

Required Tools

When laying vinyl tiles on the floor, the following tools will be useful, which are recommended to be prepared in advance:

  • square;
  • cutting knife;
  • ruler;
  • indelible pencil;
  • roulette;
  • hard roller for wallpaper.

If work is carried out in autumn or winter, you may additionally need a thermometer to monitor temperature indicators.

Laying process

After the room has been prepared and the self-adhesive tiles have been purchased and delivered to the house, you need to let them sit in the room for two days. There is no need to remove the packaging during this period to prevent dust from getting on adhesive composition. There are several ways to lay tiles on the floor.

Whatever method you choose, it is first recommended to spread the material on the floor without removing protective film. This way you can try it on and make sure you have chosen the correct starting point. If necessary, it can be adjusted taking into account the location of the furniture in the room.

You need to mark using a square, tape measure and pencil as follows:

  • we measure the most long wall rooms;
  • divide the result in half to determine the center of the wall;
  • draw a line with a pencil between the centers of opposite walls;
  • Using a square, we draw another line perpendicular to the previous one.

Thus, we divided the floor into four sections. After checking the correctness of the markings, you can remove the protective film and begin laying the slabs individually on the floor, focusing on the drawn lines. It is recommended to start installation from the center of the room according to the following algorithm:

  • remove dust and degrease the surface;
  • we mark the floor according to the previously described method;
  • Lay vinyl tiles row by row.

The protective film from the next tile is removed only after gluing the previous one. The first row must be laid out along the center line. When using square tiles, you need to glue the distant tiles using the tile laying method with offset edges. Rectangular tiles can be laid like a laminate, where each row is offset by half or a third. Another option is to install it like a parquet board.

Before starting the process, be sure to check the effect of the new coating on the ability to open interior doors. For convenience, it is recommended to remove them along with the skirting boards before starting the work process. At the end of the work, the surface should be rolled several times with a roller, which will help remove the air remaining under the slabs.

Considering all the above pros and no cons, we can say that vinyl tiles are an excellent choice for creating flooring. You can verify this by reading positive reviews from consumers who have already tried similar material at home. Possible flooring options can be seen in the photo. If you still have questions about the method of laying vinyl tiles on the floor, we recommend watching a video in which you will learn more about each of the stages.

Vinyl tiles are worth paying attention to for those who value comfort, coziness and aesthetics and at the same time want to save on the cost of flooring. You may have seen vinyl flooring at a stadium or airport, but today many manufacturers have developed materials suitable for use in residential areas.

Vinyl tiles contain fine a natural stone and vinyl. This composition makes it more resistant to the environment than many others. floor coverings, for example, in linoleum. You can choose any color of the figured tiles at your discretion. In addition, you need to decide what type of material you want to purchase: self-adhesive or regular.

Installation of self-adhesive tiles is easier, since they are attached to the base immediately after removing the protective film from the back side. Simply press it firmly onto the work surface. Laying regular vinyl tiles is more difficult, so this option will be discussed in more detail. If you master the technique of laying regular tiles, self-adhesive tiles will not present any difficulty for you.

Preparing for work

Types of patterns.

It is very important to let the tiles rest before installation. It should spend at least a day in the room on the floor of which you plan to place it. Fold it into several piles and leave it, this will allow the temperature of the material to become equal to the temperature of the room.

The base for installation must be level and dry. Before starting work, cut out those elements that will be installed near pipes or protrusions in the walls. Prepare everything necessary tools and materials in advance. You will need:

  • tile;
  • rope;
  • glue;
  • protractor;
  • roulette;
  • tamping shaft;

Pay due attention to preparing the base for installation. Any cracks or dents must be carefully repaired. You must first remove any old coating. If you have a wooden floor as a base, then you need to lay plywood on it and glue it and additionally secure it with screws. If you plan to install on concrete base, then it is recommended to make a self-leveling floor.

After the initial treatment, it is necessary to clean the floor surface. Remove loose deposits, paint, oils, dust and dirt. Do not use any chemicals for cleaning, only use mechanical methods. For best results, it is recommended to use a construction vacuum cleaner.

To make the surface more dense, prime it with a hardening compound. The surface must be dried, since the maximum permissible floor humidity is 3-5%. You can determine humidity using a device such as a moisture meter. If it is not at hand, then you can use the improvised method. Place a napkin on the screed and cover it with plastic wrap. Air access to the napkin must be blocked from all sides; for this, the film should extend 10-15 cm beyond the edges of the napkin. Glue the edges of the film to the surface with tape and press the napkin with something heavy. After 15 hours you can disassemble the structure. The napkin must be completely dry, only then can you begin styling.

Vinyl tiles, as a rule, begin to be laid from the center of the room. To mark it, you need to determine the midpoints of two opposite sides using a tape measure, and draw a line between them with chalk. To make the marking line even, it is recommended to stretch a rope between two points. Next, you need to mark the middle of the drawn line and set an angle of 90° from it using a protractor. The second line is drawn at this angle. The tiles will need to be laid along the marked lines.

Vinyl tiles should be laid in one direction from the center lines. Read the instructions for the adhesive you will be using. If you are using a dry composition, then you need to prepare a solution and move it carefully so that there are no lumps in it. The approximate glue consumption should be 300-500 g per 1 square meter. m.

Use a flat spatula to apply adhesive to work surface. It is necessary to cover approximately 3-5 square meters. m at a time. There should be no lumps or gaps on the treated surface, the glue should be applied as evenly as possible.

Tiles must be placed strictly along the previously drawn center lines, and it is necessary to adhere to the direction of the arrows that are marked on reverse side elements.

To make the tiles more flexible, you can use an industrial hair dryer. Each subsequent element must be laid tightly in relation to the previous ones and without displacement. Each laid element must be rolled with a tamping shaft.

After this, excess glue may appear in the seams; it must be removed with a sponge soaked in water or an alcohol-based composition. This must be done quickly so that the glue does not have time to harden; after hardening it will be quite problematic to remove. It is necessary to re-compact the previously laid areas after 30 minutes.
