We choose a juicer for hard vegetables and fruits. How to choose a juicer for vegetables and fruits – expert reviews

To choose best juicer for your home, you need to clearly understand what exactly you and your household need from it. After all, there is no ideal device for everyone, and each model has its own advantages and weaknesses. In this material you will find step by step guide on choosing a juicer for your home and a selection of video reviews.

Step 1. Decide on the type of juicer

Type 1. Centrifugal (universal)

This is the most common type of juicer. The fruits in it are first crushed using a grater, then they fall into a separator, where, under the influence of centrifugal force, the juice is separated from the pulp.

  • Squeezes juice from almost all fruits, vegetables and berries (with the exception of fruits with small seeds). Particularly good for soft fruits and vegetables (eg tomatoes or peaches).
  • You can insert whole small fruits (for example, apples, pears, etc.) into the cylindrical hatch, which saves a lot of time.

A universal centrifugal juicer is a workhorse that allows you to prepare juice quickly and not waste time chopping fruits. Just throw the apple into the neck, press it with the pusher and turn on the machine

  • The juice is squeezed out very quickly - 2-4 times faster compared to a screw juicer.
  • The juice from a centrifugal juicer is more liquid and homogeneous, without pulp (however, on the other hand, this can also be called a minus, because juice with pulp is healthier).
  • The machine is easy to clean even without using a special brush.
  • In this category the most big choice devices for any budget.
  • The cost of centrifugal juicers is lower than that of auger juicers. The price varies from 1000 to 12000 rubles.
  • Due to the heating of the fruit during the friction stage and the interaction of the pulp with air in the separator, the juice oxidizes and loses some of its beneficial properties. In addition, such juice cannot be stored for a long time; it must be drunk immediately.
  • Extracts juice less thoroughly than an auger juicer and produces 10-40% less juice (depending on the type of fruit/vegetable).
  • Produces more foam compared to the screw model.
  • Only expensive models of juicers can extract juice from herbs, and even those do not do it the best way, but they cannot extract juice from wheatgrass at all.
  • It is noisy. The noise is about the same as from a blender, food processor or coffee grinder.
  • Centrifugal models tend to be quite tall and require a lot of space.

If your priority is the speed of obtaining juice, say, you like to drink it for breakfast, you have a large family, or you are looking for a juicer for the whole team, then a centrifugal juicer is the best choice. optimal choice. It can also be recommended to lovers of juices made from juicy and soft fruits and vegetables, such as tomatoes.

You can learn tips on choosing the best universal centrifugal juicer from this video.

Type 2. Screw (other names: “cone”, “cold-press juicer”)

Auger juicers are also universal, but they work on a different principle: they squeeze juice out of fruits using a press under high pressure, not abrasion. The main part of the device is a conical spiral auger operating at low speeds. Externally and according to the principle of operation, a screw juicer resembles a meat grinder.

  • Preserves the maximum beneficial properties of fruits, since they do not oxidize during the cooking process.
  • For the same reason, an auger juicer allows you to make preparations and keep the juice in the refrigerator for 48 hours without losing its nutritional value. The ability to store juice in a sense compensates for the slow operation of the device, because you can prepare drinks in advance.
  • The extraction is more thorough, which means it produces more juice.

A screw juicer is more expensive than a universal one, but it squeezes 10-40% more juice (depending on the juiciness of fruits/vegetables)

  • Squeezes juice from almost everything, even cabbage, seeds, nuts and grass.
  • Works quietly.
  • The juice is obtained with less foam (1.5-2 times compared to juice from a centrifugal machine).

Only an auger juicer is capable of squeezing juice from cabbage and herbs

  • It costs more (from 12 thousand rubles).
  • The choice of devices in this category is small.
  • Auger juicers have a smaller mouth, so most fruits and vegetables need to be cut first, which makes the cooking process more difficult and slow.
  • The juice is thicker due to the presence of pulp. On the other hand, we can say that the benefits of the pulp compensate for the heterogeneity of the drink.
  • Although a screw machine squeezes juice out of soft vegetables and fruits, it turns out more like puree or baby food. However, if you have small children, then this is a big advantage.

In what cases is it recommended: An auger juicer is an ideal choice for gourmets, vegetarians, raw foodists, families with small children, patients who need dietary/liquid nutrition and simply people who care about their health. In addition, auger machines are recommended for those who love juices from hard vegetables and fruits (apples, carrots, beets, etc.).

If you are interested in an auger juicer, we suggest watching a video review and comparison of 4 models of auger machines in the mid-price category.

And in this video, a comparison of auger and centrifugal juicers is presented in detail and clearly.

Type 3. Citrus (citrus press)

The machine is specially designed for squeezing juice from citrus fruits. The design of electric citrus juicers is very simple and consists of: a motor, a reservoir for collecting juice and a cone-shaped nozzle, which, rotating at low speeds, squeezes juice out of the fruit.

  • It does not require peeling the fruits, just wash them and cut them into halves (across the slices). You can also squeeze juice from citrus fruits in other types of juicers, but to do this you will have to clean them first.
  • You can squeeze pomegranate juice in it. You can also extract juice from pomegranates in a screw juicer, but first you need to extract the grains, which is not very convenient.
  • Compact.
  • It is inexpensive (the price of electric citrus presses is 1200-3000 rubles, although there are also expensive models for 19-30 thousand rubles).
  • Easy to use.
  • Works quickly.
  • Very easy to care for.
  • It doesn’t make noise, so you can make juices even early in the morning, when everyone in the household is still asleep.
  • Many models of citrus machines allow you to adjust the amount of pulp in the finished juice.
  • Not suitable for squeezing any fruit except citruses and pomegranates.

In what cases is it recommended: If you don’t need anything else other than orange/pomegranate juice, then a citrus juicer is your choice. Citrus presses will also be very useful for those who like to throw parties. With this device, guests will be able to squeeze the juice for their cocktails themselves without peeling the oranges. At the same time, the work of the press will not interrupt conversations or muffle the music.

If you want to buy a citrus juicer, we suggest watching a comparative video review of three different models.

Step 2. Size and volume of containers

Have you decided on the type of juicer? Now let's think about the volume of tanks you need to collect juice and pulp. Citrus and centrifugal machines most often have built-in containers for collecting pulp, while auger machines have separate ones (sold as a set).

  • For a couple of people, the volume of the container for collecting juice will be 300-600 ml (that’s 1-2 glasses), the volume of the container for collecting pulp is 1.5-1.6 liters.
  • For big family To prepare juice at one time, you need a tank with a volume of 1.5-2 liters, the volume of a container for collecting pulp is 2.6-3 liters.

Also, choosing suitable model, pay attention to the size of the loading neck. The wider it is, the larger fruits and vegetables you can immerse in it without cutting.

  • The average size of the loading neck is 75 mm. Such a hatch will accommodate an apple up to 73 mm in diameter; larger fruits will have to be cut. The widest mouth of a juicer can be 84–85 mm in diameter.

Step 3. Power and speed modes

The higher the power of the machine, the faster and better quality juice it produces.

  • For centrifugal machines, the optimal power is 250-300 W and the separator rotation speed is 10000-12000 rpm. There is no particular point in purchasing a device with high performance (up to 23,000 rpm), since this has practically no effect on the productivity and quality of the juice. By the way, some juicers have up to 9 speed modes, although in fact, for the average lover of freshly squeezed juices, 2-3 modes will be enough: the low speed mode is suitable for soft fruits, and the high speed– for hard ones. Keep in mind that some centrifugal machines may only have 1 setting, but they are not suitable for juicing soft fruits/vegetables.

  • Auger juicers can have a power of 200-400 W.
  • Citrus machines have a very low power of 20-40 W. In fact, when choosing citrus presses, power is not that important, and a machine with only 25 watts of power will do the job just fine.

Step 4. Body and parts materials

The body of any juicer can be made of plastic and/or aluminum or stainless steel. Metal cases are much more beautiful and reliable than plastic ones, but more expensive and heavier. Plastic significantly reduces the cost of the device, makes it lighter and simplifies its care, and with careful handling it can also last for many years.

  • Please be aware that polished stainless steel and glossy black plastic are susceptible to fingerprints.

The material of the centrifuge in a centrifugal juicer is always made of stainless steel. But citrus and auger juicers may also have plastic filter parts, because due to low rotation speeds the loads on them are insignificant.

Step 5: Advanced Options

It is advisable that your future juicer have the following additional options:

  • “Drip-stop” function (for machines with direct juice supply).
  • A glass or jug for the finished juice and a foam separator lid. It’s good if the juice container is measured.
  • Suction cup legs or at least simple rubberized legs for stability of the device (especially important for centrifugal juicers).
  • Removable parts can be washed in the dishwasher.
  • Possibility to store the cord in a special compartment at the base of the device. Also make sure that the cord of the model you choose is long enough or not too short.
  • Brush for cleaning sieve cells.

Freshly squeezed juice is not only tasty, but also healthy. Natural juice of vegetables and fruits provides the body with all the necessary vitamins that improve human health and general condition. Another pleasant thing is the juice diet, which strengthens the immune system and cleanses the body of harmful substances. To make all these benefits available at any time, you need to know how to choose a juicer and which model to choose.

What types of juicers are there?

The modern market offers the buyer small juicers designed for preparing juice for immediate consumption, as well as more serious models that allow you to prepare juice for future use. Juicers can be domestic or professional, for soft or hard fruits that need to be peeled and chopped or can be left uncut and unpeeled. It is necessary to decide which juicer to choose based on your goal.

For a small family, a compact model is suitable, which makes one serving of juice in one cycle. For orange juice lovers, there is no point in spending money on universal models, because you can get by.

Citrus juicers

But for those who will use different vegetables and fruits to prepare a vitamin drink, you need to look among. Choosing a juicer of this type will allow you to prepare juice in any quantity and from any vegetables or fruits. Typically, such models are made multi-speed with the ability to adjust the speed of the electric motor, which allows the selection optimal mode juice extraction depending on the type of product.

There are also garden juicers designed to process large quantities of vegetables and fruits. Such models can work continuously long time, processing up to 50 kilograms of products, such as apples, per hour.

Garden juicers

With the simplest models of juicers, the work will be short-term, but with the help of professional and universal models, products can be processed for a longer period of time without turning off the machine. This feature is provided by a self-cleaning system during operation. More details about each model and its advantages and disadvantages can be found in the following articles.

Important Specifications

Talking about technical specifications juicers, first of all you need to remember about the duration of operation. New models are able to operate indefinitely thanks to automatic self-cleaning of device parts and forced fan blowing of the electric motor. Small juicers require periodic cleaning with a complete stop.

The power of modern juicers ranges from 25-250 W for citrus juicers to 250-1250 W for universal models. Each buyer decides for himself which juicer is better, based on his requirements and preferences.

Many buyers do not like the large size of juicers, but this technique is not much larger food processor. In addition, if you use it regularly, there is no need to hide the juicer in a closet.

What else to look for when choosing a juicer

Many buyers are interested in the question of how to choose good juicer and be satisfied with the purchase. To solve this problem, you need to know exactly what you should pay attention to when purchasing. First of all, we are talking about the complete set of accessories. An example would be the ability to protect equipment from dust using a tray cover, as well as reduce the likelihood of fruits or vegetables falling during loading. If the model has a brush and a can filled with water, you don’t have to stop the juicer to clean the strainer from stuck juice. Knowledge of such features will make the choice of juicer correct and successful.

Each juicer is equipped with a housing and a mechanism for processing products. The body is most often made of plastic, and special stainless steel is used for contacting working parts. The operation of most juicers is characterized by a centrifugal principle, in which fruits or vegetables must be loaded into a hole on the body and pushed towards the grater using a special pusher. After grating the product, the separator separates the juice from the pulp, sending the juice into an easily removable container. After filtering through a strainer, the juice flows into a glass or into a special built-in container.

The size of the diameter of the hole in the body directly determines the size of the fruits that can be used with this juicer. The large hole saves effort and time, because vegetables and fruits do not need to be cut. To prevent the fruits from falling on the floor, most models have a special guide tray that must be placed over the neck in the body. In some juicers, such a tray also serves as protection for the device from dust.

A person who wants to know how to choose the right juicer needs to remember a few more important points. First of all, this concerns the distance from the lower end of the neck to the grater. The amount of juice squeezed out and the likelihood of fruit falling depend on this distance, so it is desirable to have these parts as close as possible to each other.

One more important detail The juicer has a separator - cylindrical or conical. The advantage of the first type of separator is the maximum amount of juice obtained (up to 95%), however, the cylindrical separator requires frequent manual cleaning of squeezed products. Using a conical separator allows you to get 60-70% juice, but you do not need to stop the juicer to clean it.

Most often, a juicer prepares juice with foam, the amount of which depends on the type of product. Some models are equipped with a foam skimmer built into the vessel, thanks to which the juice is clean and transparent. There are also juicers with special holes in the bottom of the squeeze container. This system allows you to get a small but pleasant bonus to the prepared juice. Such little things must be taken into account when studying the question of how to choose the right juicer.

To summarize: which juicer is better to choose?

It is impossible to give uniform advice on how to choose a juicer, because a lot depends on the purpose for which such a purchase is made. Do you want to drink a glass of orange juice every day? Then a citrus juicer is right for you. Do you have a large family that loves natural juices from various vegetables and fruits? In this case, your choice is a universal juicer.

The last question remains: which brand of juicer to choose, so that the purchase will only please you. It is best to give preference to a well-known foreign or domestic brand, but it is worth remembering that domestic companies There are practically no citrus juicers produced. But universal foreign models are not intended for storing juice for future use. Therefore, if this is the goal, it is better to give preference to domestic brands.

Types of juicers for vegetables and fruits

Centrifuge

These devices are quite popular and in demand. There is a centrifuge here. At its base is a chopper blade that rotates quickly, at a speed reaching 3600 revolutions in sixty seconds. To prepare the drink, you must first cut the vegetables into pieces. small size. After this, they are placed in a trench. Next, the pusher pushes it all towards the centrifuge -

Single screw juicers allow you to extract juice from almost any vegetable.

This is where the products are crushed. When the centrifuge rotates, the pressed mass remains on the filter. As for the resulting juice, it is poured into a stainless steel bowl. Also, the material for making such a bowl can be plastic. In order to clean the filter from pulp, the device should be stopped.

Single screw

This juicer allows you to get juice from cabbage, or maybe bell pepper. To get started you need the ingredients

can be crushed, after which the mass is processed. Next, the juice is extracted from it. It takes some effort to push the vegetables into the chute.

Twin screw

In order to work with such a model, certain physical efforts must be expended. But the resulting juice is simply excellent.

What types of juicers are there?

The structure of the device is as follows:

By pressing a citrus slice, or rather half, on the nozzle, it becomes possible to obtain delicious juice. Through the holes in the nozzle, the liquid flows into a special container.

When choosing such a device, you should pay attention to power. The higher the indicator, the faster the drink for energy and vigor will be ready. The volume of the container for collecting juice is also important. The best option There will be a container with a volume of one to three glasses, because you should not store freshly squeezed juice - it should be drunk immediately.

When choosing a device, you should pay attention to the presence of additional functions. This could be reverse mode. In this case, the nozzle is rotated by the motor in one direction or another. The result is more juice. It is also appropriate to use a device with a lever - with its help you can hold the citrus on the nozzle.

Power ratings for juicers

If you have not yet decided how best to choose a juicer, then pay attention to the power. The higher it is, the faster the juice will be ready. Models for citrus fruits have power from twenty to eighty watts. As for universal models, the indicators are different - from two hundred and fifty to one and a half thousand watts. The power of auger devices varies between one hundred and fifty to two hundred and fifty watts.

Juicers for berries with seeds

If you are deciding which juicer to choose, then pay attention to the device for berries. Such models also process seeds, and not just the berries themselves.

If you choose a centrifugal model, you will not be able to obtain juice from berries with small seeds. In this case, it is better to choose a screw model or a model with a press mechanism.

The result is a wonderful drink that retains all the beneficial substances from the processed fruit.

There is a manual model used for squeezing berries. In this case, the juice is squeezed out under pressure. As a result, the liquid enters a special container, flowing down a gutter, and the pit with peel goes into another. Universal models are possible, as well as specialized ones. In the first case, it is possible to process any fruit. As for the second, here it is possible to process a certain berry.

High capacity models for apple juice

Fresh apple juice is a storehouse of vitamins

Fresh apple juice is not only delicious, but also healthy. When you have a juicer in the kitchen, it is very simple and easy to prepare this wonderful miracle drink every day. Apple models are a great choice. The screw device is expensive, so it is not so popular. But there are a lot of advantages here. Therefore, there is no need to save money, because this is a worthy choice for your kitchen. The container in which the cake is collected in the screw model does not require constant cleaning. There is also no need to disassemble the housing. After all, the cake goes to the exit on its own. Due to the fact that the rotation speed is quite slow, the juice does not heat up and is not blown through. There is no oxidation of the product. As a result, it is possible to preserve the maximum amount of vitamins beneficial to the human body. The same goes for essential oils.

If there are a lot of apples, then it is best to choose a juicer whose performance is quite impressive. It is worth paying attention to the fact that in the selected model the product is completely immersed, without cleaning or dividing it. In addition, the ability to work for long periods of time without interruption is important. Engine power too important point. The same applies to automatically discarding the cake.

  • You can always squeeze herbal and oat juice, as well as wheat juice.

The undeniable advantages of centrifugal juicers

  • The spin speed is quite impressive;
  • the cost is reasonable;
  • The model is quite simple to use;
  • there is a wide neck.

Additional features and functions

Before choosing a particular juicer for vegetables and juicy fruits, you need to decide whether you need additional functions. Multifunctional models They are more expensive, but they allow you to make natural juice from different products faster and with better quality.

Of the main additional features that are available in high-quality models, it is worth highlighting the following:

  • smooth engine start;
  • drop-stop;
  • automatic pulp ejection.

All these features help make the juicing process more comfortable, faster, and more enjoyable.

The range of juicers is quite impressive. Therefore, if you need such a device, then you must first decide on the purpose of the device. It is also necessary to take into account how much space is in the kitchen so that the device fits perfectly into everything around in this room. Now you know how to choose the best model. This is the only way to prepare the most delicious juices from vegetables and fruits. When choosing, you can always consult a specialist in the store. After all, he will definitely tell you about all the juicers, tell you how to choose the right model, taking into account the preferences and wishes of the client. For those who want to be healthy, cheerful and energetic, natural freshly squeezed juices are simply irreplaceable. A juicer will always help you prepare them.

Juice is made only from oranges, lemons, grapefruits, limes and tangerines. The fruits should be cut in half and placed flesh side down on a ribbed cone. When you press on the top of the fruit, juice is formed and flows into the reservoir.

  • Advantages. Compact and easy to use. Cheaper than centrifugal and screw ones.
  • Flaws. Not universal, suitable only for citrus fruits. Juice cannot be stored for future use.

How to choose

Citrus juicers come in manual, mechanical and electric varieties.

Manual ones are the cheapest, but ineffective: with them you will need more fruit per glass of juice.

Mechanical ones operate using a lever, which allows you to apply less physical effort and get more juice.

Electric juicers allow you to squeeze out as much juice as possible. Their power is usually 20–80 W. The more powerful the device, the faster the juice will be produced.

Pay attention to whether the kit includes a lever that holds the fruit during spinning and attachments different sizes. You need at least three of them: a small nozzle for lime and lemon, a medium one for orange, and a large one for grapefruit.

Another useful feature is the presence of reverse. When it is present, the motor rotates the juicer attachment not in one direction, but in both directions, and more juice is obtained from the fruit. Expensive models have a pulp control function. It can be adjusted to make the juice thicker or vice versa.

The capacity of such juicers usually does not exceed 1–1.2 liters, because citrus juice quickly oxidizes and loses its beneficial properties. It should be drunk fresh, within 5–10 minutes after preparation. If you're only making a glass of juice at a time, choose a smaller juicer. If you are preparing juice for the whole family, take it with a larger container.

Suitable for preparing juices from hard fruits and vegetables. Fruits are loaded into the neck, a disc grater inside grinds them into small particles, after which they go to a centrifuge separator, where juice is extracted from the resulting pulp.

  • Advantages. The main advantage of a centrifugal juicer is its productivity. It works quickly and copes with large volumes of fruits and vegetables. Juice can be made in reserve - for example, for the winter.
  • Flaws. It is loud and not suitable for soft fruits (banana, apricot, mango, papaya). The juice is produced with foam, and it contains less vitamins than whole vegetables and fruits, since due to the high spin speed it heats up, interacts more with oxygen and oxidizes faster

How to choose

Centrifugal juicers come in two types: with a cylindrical and a conical separator. The cylindrical one gives more juice, but during operation it must be stopped and cleaned of cake (remnants of fruits and vegetables). In new models, manufacturers are increasingly abandoning this design in favor of a conical one.

The conical separator squeezes out the juice a little worse, but works without stopping: the pulp is automatically removed into a special container. It is still difficult to wash such a juicer: you need to disassemble it, wash all the removable parts, and then reassemble it. There are exceptions - for example, the SC-JE50S45 juicer with a self-cleaning function. After use, you need to switch it to Clean mode, and a special scraper will clean the filter itself.

Pay attention to the power, container volume and dimensions of the juicer. The more juice you plan to make, the higher these parameters will be. Don't go for the specs and evaluate your needs wisely: you may end up paying too much for too much power that you don't need.

If you need to process 30 kg of apples every summer, take a juicer with a power of 1,500–2,000 W, and if you just like to drink a glass of juice in the morning, you can get by with a power of up to 200–500 W.

But with the size of the juicer neck, everything is clear: the larger it is, the better. You can load whole fruits into a 7–8 cm diameter neck without wasting time on slicing.

Suitable for any fruits, vegetables, herbs, nuts and sprouted grains. The principle of operation is similar to a meat grinder: fruits and vegetables are crushed using an auger - a mechanism similar to a screw. Juice is formed under pressure, after which it is separated from the pulp and fed into a container.

  • Advantages. They make cold-pressed juice. It does not heat up or oxidize during cooking and can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two days. It is richer, sweeter and contains more pulp.
  • Flaws. Less powerful than centrifugal ones and work slower. They are quite difficult to disassemble and wash; the neck in most models is narrow.

How to choose

Auger juicers differ in body materials, power, volume of containers for juice and pulp, and additional functions.

A stainless steel case is more reliable and durable than a plastic one.

The minimum size of containers for juice and pulp is 350 ml. Power ranges from 200 to 400 W. If you are making juice for the whole family, take 400 W models with a 0.8–1 liter container and a liter juice tank, like Scarlett SC-JE50S43. If one glass of juice in the morning is enough for you, the Scarlett SC-JE50S39 compact juicer with a 350 ml container and a power of 200 W is suitable.

Look for models with a wide neck as they are easier to use. For example, the Scarlett SC-JE50S44 juicer has a neck diameter of 7.5 cm, and the Scarlett SC-JE50S40 has a neck diameter of 8 cm.

To wash the auger juicer, you need to remove all removable parts and rinse them under water. The kit includes a special brush for cleaning. For convenience, some models are equipped with an easy disassembly system - when parts are removed not one by one, but simultaneously. This allows you to do everything in the sink and not dirty the kitchen.

Some auger juicers make not only juices and smoothies, but also sorbets. In the Scarlett SC-JE50S41 juicer, sorbet is made in the same way as juice: you throw frozen fruit into the neck, and at the end you get a healthy dessert.

Short

  • Auger juicers are the most functional and make the most healthy juice. They are suitable for all fruits, vegetables, herbs and nuts, but are expensive.
  • Centrifugal juicers are the most powerful and are suitable for coping with the summer harvest. But they consume a lot of energy, are loud, do not retain all the vitamins, and are only suitable for hard fruits and vegetables.
  • Citrus juicers are the most inexpensive and compact, but they are not suitable for all fruits.

Freshly squeezed juices are an important part of a proper and healthy diet. In your diet all year round will be a large number of vitamins and nutrients if you have a good juicer in your home.

There is no longer any doubt that home-made drinks, which do not contain preservatives and dyes, are healthier than store-bought ones. Berry, fruit, vegetable and mixed juices will not only be a tasty addition to the daily menu, but also a source of substances necessary for the body.

We will tell you about the types of existing units, advise you on what to look for, and how to choose a juicer for vegetables, berries and seasonal fruits.

Which juicer to choose: two types

There are two types of units - for citrus fruits and universal. The first ones are intended for home production of juice from oranges, tangerines, lemons, and grapefruits. They can also be used to juice soft vegetables such as tomatoes. Typically, these juicers are inexpensive and not at all difficult to use.

Universal juicers can be used for absolutely any fruit, berries and vegetables, even hard ones, such as carrots.

Deciding on tasks

Before you go to the store for new purchase, you need to decide what kind of juice you plan to make on a regular basis. If you decide to regularly drink only orange juice or use lime juice for marinades and salad dressings, then a simple and inexpensive citrus juicer will suit you.

If you want to often pamper yourself with mixed cocktails made from vegetables and fruits, make healthy drinks Of all the things you can think of, you can’t do without a universal device. However, when making a choice, you need to understand that the latest juicers are quite bulky, and if you have a tiny kitchen, you may not have room for them.

Again, if you are too lazy to wash the parts of a fairly massive unit every time, then it is better to make your choice in favor of a small device for citrus fruits.

Choosing a citrus juicer

If you don't know how to choose a juicer for fruits, such as citrus fruits, pay attention to several important characteristics. Devices for citrus fruits are the simplest; they consist of a motor, a citrus cone attachment and a juice compartment. The volume of the liquid compartment can be from 500 milliliters to 1.5 liters. It is unlikely that you should take a device with a maximum juice bowl capacity if you plan to drink juice alone. The power of these units is from 20 to 100 watts. The higher the power number, the faster the juice will be prepared.

Take a close look at the juicer spout. It is better that it be equipped with a special filter that will not let seeds and their parts into the glass. It should be conveniently made, then the juice will not spill past the placed glass. If the machine has a “reverse” function, then when squeezing juice, the squeezing cone will rotate in different directions, which will make the process of obtaining juice as convenient as possible.

All citrus fruits are not the same size, so it is important to choose a juicer with attachments for different fruits. Then you will have the opportunity to comfortably prepare juice from both grapefruit and lime. Another useful feature is the fruit holder. If you want to make cocktails or measure a certain amount of juice for cooking, then choose models with a scale that measures the level of juice. And, of course, pay attention to the material from which the device is made. It should be safe, look high quality and not smell of chemicals.

Choosing a universal juicer

Universal juicers are more serious units, they take up more space and are more complex. They are divided into devices with a cylindrical separator, which does not provide a function for discarding cake, and a conical separator, in which such a function is present. But cylindrical juicers allow you to get more liquid even from hard vegetables, but the juices from this type of machine are thicker.

The conical type of juicer is equipped with a device for collecting pulp; the resulting juice will be an order of magnitude smaller. But you will have to clean the device from waste much less often. This is especially important if you are making a drink for a large family. When choosing a universal device, pay attention to the operating time provided by the manufacturer without stopping. If you want to make juice for winter preparations, this may be important for you. Some models provide protection against overheating, which in this case will also protect you from damage.

If you plan to make juices from various vegetables, fruits and berries, choose models with a speed controller. The higher the speed, the thicker the juices become. You will have the opportunity to adjust the thickness of drinks according to your own choice. If you don't like drinks with foam, then pay attention to models that have a foaming function. The juice prepared with its help will be more transparent and with minimal inclusions of pulp.

Of course, it is important what material the centrifuge is made of. Perfect option - stainless steel, it will last for many years without any problems. For expensive models, filters can be made of titanium - this is a safe and almost eternal material, but for such devices you will have to pay quite a significant amount of money. The power of universal devices can be from 200 to 1200 watts. The higher this indicator, the faster the juice will be squeezed out. But unless you plan to make juice every morning for a group of kids from... kindergarten, then you should choose the average, in the range of 800-900 watts.
