We combine the kitchen and hallway in the apartment. How to hang two types of wallpaper: photos in the kitchen, design ideas

Due to limited quantity square meters living spaces are born completely unusual options layouts. A striking example of such a solution is the design of a hallway combined with a kitchen. You will learn how to do it correctly and what tools to use for zoning space in our material.

The design of the kitchen and hallway can be difficult for beginners, but it is quite possible to implement it

Features of the arrangement

There is no doubt that creating an organic hallway-kitchen design is quite difficult, but it is still a doable task. First, let's talk about the main features of this arrangement.

Most often, a kitchen combined with a hallway is found in studio apartments

Advantages and disadvantages

The kitchen-hallway can either initially be located in an apartment in a new building, or become the result of redevelopment. The second option can most often be found in studio apartments, or in small spaces. This solution, like other planning options, has its pros and cons.

Combining these two dissimilar zones has its advantages and disadvantages.

  • Advantages. Combining the hallway and kitchen increases the usable space in the apartment, making it more open and light. In addition, this solution makes the process of taking out garbage, unloading food, etc. more comfortable.

Combining two rooms will create a spacious room

  • Flaws. Quite often the interior of the kitchen and hallway suffers from a lack of natural light, the room becomes more cramped. You will also need to do the cleaning yourself more often, otherwise the hygiene of the room will suffer.

The kitchen-hallway will have to be washed many times more often

If for one reason or another you become the owner of a kitchen-hallway, then the first thing you should take care of is maintaining the proper level of hygiene in the apartment. The following instructions will tell you what to do.

  • Tip 1: Move the furniture. It is best to move all kitchen cabinets deeper into the kitchen away from the corridor.

Try to place kitchen set away from the front door

  • Tip 2. Organize your storage areas. In the corridor area you will need to create areas for removing or storing shoes and outerwear. There is no need for street dirt to penetrate into the kitchen.
  • Tip 3. Install a “warm floor”. To solve the problem of wet shoe marks, you should take care of organizing a “warm floor” system in your apartment.

The floor heating system will solve the problem with wet footprints in the apartment

  • Tip 4. No lint. Remove all pile carpets from the apartment - they cause a lot of trouble during the cleaning process.
  • Tip 5. Create partitions. So that during the cooking process you do not have to “admire” the hanging outerwear or shoes, take care to create partitions between the two areas.

Partitions are an important part of the combined kitchen-hallway

Design techniques for arrangement – 9 ideas

To make the design of the hallway and kitchen not only stylish, but also organic, you need to resort to proven design techniques.

  • Technique 1. Enlarged cabinets. If you are purchasing a custom-made set, then, if possible, order floor cabinets with a depth of not 60, but 70 or 80 cm. This way you can place the sink and stove closer to the wall and thereby avoid constant splashes of water and grease.
  • Technique 2. Watch the width of the passage. For convenient and safe movement around the kitchen, the distance from the set to the opposite wall should be at least 120 cm.

The passage between the headset and the wall or second part of the headset must be at least 120 centimeters

  • Technique 3. Saving space in the corridor. To save as much usable space as possible, install a chest of drawers and a shoe rack with a width of not 60, but 40 cm in the hallway. They are not only compact, but also quite comfortable.
  • Technique 4. Follow the triangle rule. Correct location sinks, refrigerators and stoves in the kitchen is a very important point that needs to be carefully considered. They must be placed close to each other so that they form the vertices of a triangle.

Light colors will make the space feel lighter

  • Reception 5. Light colors. Light decoration and furniture allow you to visually enlarge the room and make it lighter. If the set merges with the color of the walls, it will seem to dissolve in them, and the interior of the hallway and kitchen will only benefit from this.
  • Technique 6. Zoning. As mentioned above, zoning will allow you to visually divide the space into functional areas. You can use a bar counter, an L-shaped set, or a shelving unit as a “separator.”

A floor cabinet, bar counter or shelving can serve as a separator between zones

  • Technique 7. High-quality lighting. When developing the design of a kitchen-hallway with your own hands, you must not forget about proper lighting. You should not use a central chandelier - it will only narrow the space. It is better to resort to spotlights above the suite, long chandeliers above the dining area and wardrobe lighting.
  • Reception 8. Wardrobes. To save some useful space, install in the hallway not a cabinet with hinged doors, but a sliding wardrobe.

The price of a wardrobe may be steep, but it takes up much less space in the hallway than a model with hinged doors.

  • Reception 9. Furniture transformer. If you are limited in square footage, then you should take care of purchasing compact transformable furniture. These can be cabinets with a retractable table top, folding tables attached to the wall or replacing the window sill, and folding chairs.

Transformable furniture is very functional, but does not take up much space.

Finally

As you can see, there are quite a lot of ways to comfortably arrange a kitchen-hallway. Using our recommendations, you can create a cozy and functional interior, which will delight you for many years. You can get more ideas for implementation from the video and photo materials on our website.

The kitchen-hallway can be formed as a result of redevelopment or appear as such initially. The latter option is sometimes found in studios, private houses, apartments with open or open plan. Such a non-standard solution has its pros and cons:

  • Pros: increasing the living space in the apartment (with the complete relocation of the kitchen to the corridor) or the usable area in the kitchen (with partial/complete demolition interior partition). Another plus is the convenience of loading and unloading food and removing garbage.
  • Disadvantages: when the kitchen is completely moved into the corridor, the room becomes cramped and narrow, so instead of a dining table, a bar counter is most often used, and a full-fledged dining area is set up in another room, for example, the living room. Other disadvantages of the kitchen-hallway:
  1. The need to clean more often;
  2. Distribution of culinary odors to all adjacent rooms;
  3. In a walk-through kitchen, cooking and moving around the house becomes inconvenient and even unsafe;
  4. Often in the kitchen-hallway there is not enough natural light;
  5. The process of moving utilities and demolishing walls is bureaucratically and technically complex and costly.

One way or another, the benefits of such redevelopment are often worth all the difficulties. Moreover, with careful planning, the disadvantages of a combined space can be minimized. From this material you will learn how to arrange a kitchen-hallway/kitchen combined with a corridor, and in what cases redevelopment is permissible, and you will also learn interesting ideas design from a selection of 40 photos of interiors.

Help on redevelopment

Moving the kitchen to the hallway in apartments with a standard layout, whether in a Khrushchev or a new building, is quite possible, but, unfortunately, not always and only under certain conditions:

  • Coordination of the redevelopment project with the house architect and all local housing inspectors. Otherwise, the apartment owner will be required to return everything to its original condition and pay a fine.
  • In order for the redevelopment project to be approved, it is necessary that in the apartment on the floor below, under the future kitchen-hallway, there is no living room or gasified kitchen.
  • In the apartment on the top floor above the place where you want to arrange the kitchen, there should be no bathroom or toilet.
  • The kitchen-hallway should have a window (at least in the adjacent room) so that enough daylight penetrates into it and it can be ventilated.
  • It will not be possible to combine a gasified kitchen or move it into the corridor, since it must be isolated from other rooms by full-fledged partitions. Even arched and open doorways are not acceptable.
  • You can't just take it down load-bearing walls and designs.
  • According to the rules fire safety passages in the kitchen-hallway, already furnished, must be at least 1 meter. But it is best to make the passage even wider - about 120 cm.

14 tips for arranging a kitchen located in the hallway and a kitchen combined with a hallway

Tip 1. Extended-depth floor cabinets will make moving around the walk-through kitchen safer

If possible, purchase kitchen furniture to order, so that the lower cabinets and tabletop have not a standard depth (60 cm), but an increased one (70-80 cm). Then you can install the sink and stove closer to the interior wall.

  • If you install the sink about 5-10 cm from the edge of the countertop, there will be less water splashes on the floor.
  • The stove should be installed even deeper - at a distance of 10-15 cm from the edge of the countertop. This will reduce the risk of accidentally burning yourself on a hot burner or overturning a frying pan with food while rushing to get ready for work.

Tip 2. Avoid open shelves, cabinets and rails

In a kitchen combined with a hallway, dust accumulates much faster than in an isolated room. Therefore, you should prefer closed cabinets to open shelves and rails. Moreover, they will not only protect dishes and groceries from contamination, but will also visually make the kitchen look neat.

  • The ideal solution for a kitchen-hallway would be a mini-kitchen, which can be closed with hinged doors and in this form is indistinguishable from a regular cabinet. Examples of such furniture are presented in the photo below.

Tip 3. The width of the passages should be at least 120 cm

From the kitchen unit to the opposite wall or furniture, the width of the passage should be at least 120 cm, and preferably 1.5 meters. Otherwise, the room will become not only uncomfortable, but also unsafe.

  • You can save space by using furniture in the hallway area. Moreover, a wardrobe, shoe rack and chest of drawers with a depth of about 40 cm instead of the standard 60 cm are not only more compact, but also more convenient.

To prevent culinary odors and grease from permeating all the clothes stored in the hallway and adjacent rooms, you need to install a really powerful hood.

  • Firstly, it must be domed or built right above the stove, and secondly, its productivity must be at least 900 m 3 /hour.

Tip 5. Try to follow the “work triangle” rule

If you place three work points (sink, stove and refrigerator) not far from each other and so that they form a triangle, the kitchen will be as convenient as possible. But in a narrow and small kitchen combined with a hallway, it is quite difficult to comply with this rule. So, for example, for too narrow corridors The only possible option for arranging a kitchen is a linear layout, when all the work furniture is lined up along one wall. The disadvantage of this scheme is that the cook has to spend extra time and effort moving back and forth along the kitchen while cooking.

More convenient types of layouts that are available for a narrow kitchen-hallway are:

  • Double-row - the sink and stove are placed next to each other, and the refrigerator is placed on the opposite side, for example, next to the wardrobe. When choosing this type of layout, remember that the width of the passage must be at least 120 cm.

  • L-shaped - in in this case The kitchen is built along two adjacent walls.

If the corridor is more than 3.2 m wide, then you can even build the kitchen in a U-shape. For example, as shown in this design project:

This will, firstly, visually enlarge and expand a small space. Secondly, make the kitchen brighter. For dark kitchens located in the corridor, into which light comes only from the window of the adjacent room, a light color of walls and furniture is especially necessary.

  • Most effective method increase the space - paint the walls in White color and choose white furniture.
  • If the kitchen set and the walls match in tone, the interior will become visually lighter - bulky furniture will seem to merge with the wall. In the following photos you can see an example of this design in the kitchen in the hallway, combined with the living room.

To make the interior look orderly and cozy, the kitchen area should be visually or physically separated from the hallway area. To do this you can use the following techniques:

  • Do different finishes floors and/or walls. For example, the floor in work area can be tiled with practical tiles, and the rest of the apartment can be finished with wood as shown in the photo below.

Tip 9. Choose doubly practical materials for wall and floor decoration

A walk-through kitchen, a kitchen-hallway and a kitchen combined with a corridor become dirty faster than any other room isolated by walls. Super-practical, moisture- and wear-resistant materials will help you make cleaning easier. Decoration Materials.

  • It's best to just paint the walls, and decorate the apron with tiles, tempered glass or a metal panel (more details in the material: Which apron is best for the kitchen?).
  • The floor is standing tile with ceramic tiles or porcelain stoneware. Also keep in mind that dirt, crumbs, water stains and dust are much less noticeable on light-colored floors than on dark-colored floors.

Tip 10. Use large mirrors to visually increase space

The mirror can be hung on the wall, lined with an apron or wardrobe doors.

Tip 11. It is better to choose a wardrobe in the hallway with sliding doors

To save space in the kitchen-hallway, wardrobes with hinged doors should be preferred to wardrobes with sliding doors.

To ensure that all things fit in your small kitchen combined with a corridor, choose a set with three tiers. In the upper cabinets you can store things that you do not use often.

Tip 13. Try not to overload the interior with heterogeneous surfaces, an abundance of colors and prints

For example, you should abandon the colorful design of the apron, kitchen facades and wardrobe. If you decide to hang wallpaper, we recommend choosing a plain coating or canvas with a small and inconspicuous pattern.

  • Household appliances should be built-in and, best of all, hidden behind the facades.

Concerning color range interior, then it is better to make it up from 2-4 neutral shades. However, bright accents are quite acceptable, but there should be very few of them.

Tip 14. The dining set should be light, multifunctional and/or compact

If there is no space at all in the kitchen-hallway, then it is best to organize the dining area in the living room. If you can still find at least 1-1.5 free square meters in it, then organizing a mini-dining room is quite possible. The main thing is to choose compact furniture. Here are some ideas and solutions:

  • The dining table can be replaced by a bar counter, where it is convenient to have breakfast, have a snack and even work at the computer.

  • Another mobile option– a folding table that is mounted to the wall and, when folded, looks more like a shelf.

  • If you often have guests, best choice will become

Changing the placement of rooms in an apartment may have several reasons. So, if the dimensions of the hallway and the adjacent kitchen are too small, they can be combined. Although the same is done for spacious housing, but with other tasks - to increase the functionality of each room. In any case, the hallway together requires compliance with certain rules for arranging furniture, finishing and design. Today we’ll talk about how to make the best kitchen-hallway.

Kitchen combined with hallway - excellent design solution in the apartment

Techniques for arranging a kitchen-hallway

All redevelopment projects that combine a kitchen with a corridor are developed individually and depend on the size and placement of the rooms, as well as on the preferences of the homeowner. But there are several tips that are recommended to be followed in any case.

First of all, the recommendations concern the location of the bathroom. If, when combined, it ends up between rooms, a transfer is necessary - and the partition remaining from the bathroom between the kitchen and hallway will serve to separate the zones. However, this will entail additional costs:

  • for alteration of sewer and water pipes;
  • transfer of risers;
  • removing walls.

But, if funds allow, the option is quite feasible. In cases where removing a bathroom would be too expensive, it is left as a boundary between rooms.

If you plan not to completely move the kitchen into the corridor, but only to combine adjacent areas, it is recommended not to remove the entire wall, but to punch a through hole in the form of a rectangular or round arched passage. Sometimes only the upper part of the opening is removed, leaving the lower part for placement kitchen utensils or flowers and at the same time providing natural lighting to the corridor from the kitchen window.

The L-shaped arrangement of the cooking room relative to the hallway may affect the load-bearing walls when combined and will require permission from government services and replacement of the gas stove with an electric one.

Beautiful hallway- can become a full-fledged part of the interior

Layout features

The tasks of the kitchen room and the corridor are completely different and make them incompatible. And, to solve this problem, the kitchen and hallway together must have a design and layout that would divide the space into zones. First of all, furniture helps with this.

Arrangement of kitchen furniture

The combined kitchen-hallway contains the furniture needed in both rooms. But more emphasis is placed on the kitchen area. Therefore, fewer items are chosen for the corridor - a wall for things and shoes with closed shelves for aesthetic and hygienic purposes is enough. The kitchen should contain everything necessary for cooking, including work tables and household appliances. It is advisable to choose equipment built into furniture that takes up less space, but leaves the functionality of the room at a high level.

And household appliances are removed from the door. A good option would be to install them in one line near the wall farthest from the hallway. If the height of the kitchen exceeds 2.7 m, the furniture in it can be raised to a podium 5–10 cm high. And the island arrangement of furniture is suitable only for spacious rooms.

To correctly arrange furniture in the kitchen, you need to make a diagram

Zoning options

To visually divide rooms into sections, zoning of the kitchen and hallway is used. The most popular option in this case is installation (moving along guides installed on the floor and ceiling). The structure is closed when guests arrive or during cooking.

The partition can also be permanent - left over from the wall or made independently from plasterboard or brick. The main requirement for it is to leave a passage from the kitchen to the hallway.

It is possible to ensure zoning when planning the design of a kitchen with a corridor using the following options:

  1. Installation on the border of zones of a cabinet or refrigerator that performs its functions and at the same time separates the rooms;
  2. A fireplace or an aquarium that did not have enough space in small apartment, will now fit between the rooms and separate the cooking space and the hallway.

The TV is not suitable for separation. It should be installed so that the screen can be seen from both the corridor and their kitchen - or, if you combine three rooms at once, also from the living room.

Room decoration

When creating the design of a kitchen combined with a hallway, an important role is given to the decoration, lighting and colors of the interior. With their help, comfort, zoning, and hygiene in the premises are ensured.

Choose the color of the kitchen that you like

Finishing

The choice of finishing for the hallway and kitchen provides a simpler option for the first room. For example, wallpapering walls. In the kitchen area, it is worth laying laminate or linoleum on the floor (the second option is better due to less exposure to moisture), and finishing the walls with plaster or panels. The ceiling is created in the same style.

If zoning was carried out without the help of finishing, but, for example, with partitions, furniture or appliances, the floor in the combined room is decorated in the same way. Wall decoration is selected in accordance with the requirements for these rooms in a separate location.

Color spectrum

Visual separation can be ensured if the kitchen in the hallway is designed depending on the zone. Suitable for work area bright hues. Dining area make it bright, and the area at the entrance darker. Another option is to use one color and separate it using shades. Colors adjacent to the spectrum look great - orange and yellow, blue and violet. Sharp contrasts such as combining yellow and black or red and green are not recommended.

Lighting

The lighting of the room plays a decisive role both in creating comfort and in zoning. It is divided into rooms - kitchen and corridor. In the kitchen, the light is made brighter, leaving softer lighting in the hallway, which will allow you to feel the transition between rooms. Additional lamps in the hallway are placed near the mirror, in the kitchen area - near the table and work area.

The limited number of rooms leads to the emergence of completely unexpected solutions for combining different functional areas. If you made a kitchen and a hallway together, then you need to take care of choosing furniture, choosing finishing materials and zoning. The decision to expand a small kitchen with a spacious hallway can be a very good option, as this will allow you to get a fairly spacious and functional area.

Fashion trends mean complete absence walls, which allows you to combine two or more functional areas.

In particular, you can combine:

  • Kitchen;
  • hallway;
  • Guest room.

Initially, you need to prepare a project and obtain consent to demolish some walls. Certain problems may arise if the kitchen is gas stove, and also if load-bearing walls need to be removed. If the kitchen is combined with a hallway, then you need to comply important conditions, which relate to sanitary and hygienic standards. In addition, when starting renovations, you need to make sure that each individual zone fully fulfills its functional purpose.

Such an association has many advantages, in particular such as:

  • Obtaining additional meters for the kitchen;
  • A special feeling of comfort;
  • The appearance of natural light in the hallway.

However, combining the kitchen and hallway in a house can also have certain disadvantages, since it is quite difficult to maintain order in the entire apartment at once, since all functional areas are visible immediately upon entering. This leads to the need to make the most enclosed area possible, designate a place for storing dishes and kitchen utensils, and also better design built-in household appliances.

Important! Even if, after redevelopment, the kitchen-hallway is considered sufficient in size, then it is best to move the tabletop and chairs to the living room, since eating near the entrance to the apartment may not be entirely comfortable.

Cozy small kitchen in the hallway

If the kitchen is small, then combining it with the hallway can be a very good option, as this will significantly expand the free space and make it more functional. The layout of a common space can be quite convenient; the most important thing is to competently approach the arrangement of free space.

In order for the interior of the kitchen and hallway to be quite stylish and at the same time comfortable, it is necessary to zoning the room.

A very good solution in this case can be sliding partitions, which can be made of different materials.

Namely:

  • Glass;
  • Tree;
  • Plastic;
  • Metal.

This will allow you to isolate individual areas, as well as give the interior a special style and sophistication. If the kitchen area is combined with a hallway, then it is imperative to consider the conditions for ensuring the hygiene of the resulting space.

In the hallway, it is best to install a heated floor system, as this will provide special comfort, and the entrance to the apartment will always remain clean, since dirt can dry quickly and is easily removed. To prevent clothing in the hallway from becoming saturated with foreign odors, you need to think through and arrange quality system ventilation.

A kitchen plus a hallway in one room can become very good decision, the most important thing is to correctly calculate and think through everything so that both functional zones complement each other and combine well.

Kitchen and hallway together: design features

The kitchen is intended not only for cooking, but also for family gatherings, so the common space should be comfortable, spacious and functional. Sometimes there is not enough space to equip a full-fledged kitchen that will fully satisfy all needs. Then the ideal solution would be a combined kitchen with a hallway. Such a solution will be especially relevant in one-room apartment, where the kitchen has a small area.

When arranging a living room with a kitchen, you definitely need to think about:

  • Ideas for finishing walls, floors and ceilings;
  • Organization of lighting;
  • Zoning the room and choosing furniture.

To decorate a room, you need to wisely select finishing materials for:

  • Sten;
  • Paul;
  • Ceiling.

The flooring can be absolutely anything, in particular, it can be porcelain stoneware, linoleum, laminate. These materials are quite durable, wash well from dirt and are suitable for any style.

For wall decoration, wallpaper, MDF panels, laminated panels, paint, decorative plaster. The ceiling can be painted, plasterboard or suspended ceilings can be made.

To make the kitchen seem lighter and more spacious, when finishing, it is advisable to use light colors and shades. You can combine light colors with bright or dark muted colors. This will allow you to bring a special style to the space you are designing, and make the kitchen and hallway more refined and unique.

The resulting room can be decorated in a variety of styles, in particular such as:

  • Provence;
  • Country;

  • Modern;
  • Loft;
  • Classical.

A kitchen with an entrance hall, decorated in Provence style, implies the presence of light furniture, and preference should be given in decoration natural materials with floral print. The apartment, decorated in Provence style, is quite cozy, as it promotes relaxation. For finishing kitchens with a transition to the hallway, the high-tech style is perfect, which implies full functionality and the absence of unnecessary interior items and furniture.

If the kitchen, which turns into the hallway, is spacious enough, then it is quite possible to create an interior in it classic style. In the spacious kitchen you can embody all your ideas and preferences by choosing luxurious furniture and decorative elements.

It is imperative to highlight functional areas such as:

  • Dinner Zone;
  • Work zone;
  • Hallway.

Furniture for the kitchen-hallway must be selected in such a way that it is as functional as possible and takes up little space. Instead of a standard dining table, you can make a bar counter, which can additionally act as a partition for zoning the space.

You can add stylish original accessories to the interior that will highlight the overall stylistic direction of the room.

Help on redevelopment

Moving the kitchen to the hallway in apartments with a standard layout, whether in a Khrushchev or a new building, is quite possible, but, unfortunately, not always and only under certain conditions:

It will not be possible to combine a gasified kitchen or move it into the corridor, since it must be isolated from other rooms by full-fledged partitions. Even arched and open doorways are not acceptable.

Only non-load-bearing walls and structures can be demolished.

According to fire safety rules, passages in a kitchen-hallway, already furnished, must be at least 1 meter. But it is best to make the passage even wider - about 120 cm.

14 tips for arranging a kitchen located in the hallway and a kitchen combined with a hallway

Tip 1. Extended-depth floor cabinets will make moving around the walk-through kitchen safer

If possible, purchase kitchen furniture to order so that the lower cabinets and countertops do not have a standard depth (60 cm), but an increased one (70-80 cm). Then you can install the sink and stove closer to the interior wall.

If you install the sink about 5-10 cm from the edge of the countertop, there will be less water splashes on the floor.

The stove should be installed even deeper - at a distance of 10-15 cm from the edge of the countertop.

The ideal solution for a kitchen-hallway would be a mini-kitchen, which can be closed with hinged doors and in this form is indistinguishable from a regular cabinet.

You can save space by using furniture in the hallway area. Moreover, a wardrobe, shoe rack and chest of drawers with a depth of about 40 cm instead of the standard 60 cm are not only more compact, but also more convenient.

Tip 4. Use a powerful hood

To prevent culinary odors and grease from permeating all the clothes stored in the hallway and adjacent rooms, you need to install a really powerful hood.

Firstly, it must be domed or built right above the stove, and secondly, its productivity must be at least 900 m 3 /hour.

So, for example, for too narrow corridors the only possible option The kitchen arrangement is a linear layout, when all the working furniture is lined up along one wall. The disadvantage of this scheme is that the cook has to spend extra time and effort moving back and forth along the kitchen while cooking.

More convenient types of layouts that are available for a narrow kitchen-hallway are:

Double-row - the sink and stove are placed next to each other, and the refrigerator is placed on the opposite side, for example, next to the wardrobe. When choosing this type of layout, remember that the width of the passage must be at least 120 cm.

L-shaped - in this case, the kitchen is built along two adjacent walls.

If the corridor is more than 3.2 m wide, then you can even build the kitchen in a U-shape. For example, as shown in this design project:

Tip 6. Decorate the interior in light colors

This will, firstly, visually enlarge and expand a small space. Secondly, make the kitchen brighter. For dark kitchens located in the corridor, into which light comes only from the window of the adjacent room, a light color of walls and furniture is especially necessary.

If the kitchen set and the walls match in tone, the interior will become visually lighter - bulky furniture will seem to merge with the wall. In the following photos you can see an example of this design in the kitchen in the hallway, combined with the living room.

Tip 7. Zone the room

To make the interior look orderly and cozy, the kitchen area should be visually or physically separated from the hallway area. To do this you can use the following techniques:

Make different finishes for the floor and/or walls. For example, the floor in the work area can be tiled with practical tiles, and the rest of the apartment can be finished with wood, as shown in the photo below.

Line up partition with arched opening or glazing

Use furniture as a divider, for example, a bar counter, a peninsula, a rack, a chest of drawers, a kitchen cabinet.

Create different lighting scenarios for different parts of the room. For example, in the hallway you can install pendants, spotlights, wardrobe lighting, in the work area - wall sconces or furniture lamps, and it is better to highlight the dining group with more elegant pendants or a chandelier.

The kitchen or, conversely, the passage part of the room can be highlighted with carpet.

Tip 8. Evenly illuminate the kitchen-hallway to expand the space

The light from the central chandelier will further narrow the narrow and small kitchen, so instead of it or in addition to it, it is necessary to illuminate the space with spotlights (along the perimeter of the ceiling) or wall sconces.

Tip 9. Choose doubly practical materials for wall and floor decoration

A walk-through kitchen, a kitchen-hallway and a kitchen combined with a corridor become dirty faster than any other room isolated by walls. Super-practical, moisture- and wear-resistant finishing materials will help you make cleaning easier.

It's best to just paint the walls, and decorate the apron with tiles, tempered glass or metal panel

The floor is standing veneer ceramic tiles or porcelain stoneware. Also keep in mind that dirt, crumbs, water stains and dust are much less noticeable on light-colored floors than on dark-colored floors.

Tip 10. Use large mirrors For visual increase space

Tip 12. Build your kitchen units all the way to the ceiling

If you decide to wallpaper, we recommend choosing a plain coating or canvas with a small and inconspicuous pattern.

Design of a kitchen combined with a hallway

Household appliances should be built-in and, best of all, hidden behind the facades.

As for the color scheme of the interior, it is better to make it up of 2-4 neutral shades.

The dining table can be replaced by a bar counter, where it is convenient to have breakfast, have a snack and even work at the computer.

Another mobile option is a folding table, which is mounted to the wall and, when folded, looks more like a shelf.

If you often have guests, the best choice would be folding transforming table.

It is better to choose light and compact chairs, for example, folding ones that can be stacked or hung on the wall.

Another a good option– transparent “ghost” chairs or stools made of polycarbonate. They will not clutter up the space and will make the interior very stylish.
