DIY wooden slide with swings. Making a slide out of wood? Wood slide

If you have children and country cottage area, then it’s definitely worth building a slide on it. While parents are gardening or cooking barbecue, the kids will have fun on the mini playground. Read about how to plan and make a slide with your own hands, using photo and video instructions in practice.

Height and safety

The slide on the site should first of all be safe for children of different ages. So, for children under 2 years old the height of the slide is only 1.5 meters, for children from 2 to 7 years old the height is about 2.5 m, and for teenagers 3-3.5 meters. The steps on the slide ladder should be wide, and the rungs should be located close to each other. Further, the staircase design must be equipped with handrails of any type: after climbing the slide, the child must hold on to something.

Advice! To ensure that the slide serves more than one generation of children and is safe on the stairs, an anti-slip coating is laid around it. The covering protects children from injuries when climbing during rain, snow or after swimming in the pool.

Another important stage in creating a safe slide is calculating the weight of the children who will ride on it:

The height of the slide depends on the age of the children

  1. The slide is secured to a base or supports that can easily support the weight of 2-3 children.
  2. A level gutter is responsible for safety during descent; it is good to make sides on the sides to prevent the child from falling out.
  3. All bolts, chips, chips or sharp corners on the children's slide are excluded. The wood is sanded so that the child does not drive a splinter.

Advice! Under the gutter along which the child descends, a soft piece is placed - this lawn grass, a mound of sand or soft covering.

Choosing a place to place a children's slide

The slide is placed in the place where it opens good review from any point on the site. But make sure that the place for games is not in the very hot sun. In the case of such an arrangement, it is worth thinking about building a canopy.

Advice! The canopy is made of polycarbonate, and a regular beach umbrella is also suitable for a low slide.

Wood slide

Slide from natural wood distinguished by its environmental friendliness and ease of installation, it consists of the following elements:

  1. Base.
  2. Staircase with railings.
  3. Descent.
  4. Top platform and protective parts.

Such a slide can be complemented by a whole of labyrinths, beams, sandbox or mini rooms with entrances and exits. The construction of a wooden slide involves the selection of high-quality raw materials and their normal processing.

Wooden slide

The ramp is made of plywood, pre-coated with varnish to hide sanding errors. The supporting structure is made of timber, and the steps are made of strong boards.

Important! Today, there are a variety of ramps available for sale, made of durable plastic, fiberglass or wood. The minimum price of a stingray is 1.5-2 thousand rubles. The best option is to create a supporting structure for the slide and then install a flat or spiral slope.

A wooden slide is good for everyone, but located in an open space, after 3-5 years it can dry out, be damaged by insects or mold. Wood rots from rain, and the situation can be saved by covering each structural element with a thick layer of varnish. But after winter and hot summer, the slide should be inspected, identifying dry or cracked parts.

Metal slide

Previously, metal slides stood in every yard, distinguished by their strength and durability. Such designs are more reliable, because they are not afraid of the hot sun, rain, or frost.

The construction of such a slide is carried out in several stages:

  1. The most primitive foundation is poured; you can immediately pour 4 support pipes, as is done when installing fences.
  2. Next, the stairs and railings are welded onto 2 pipes on one side, the remaining 2 pipes are used to attach the gutter.
  3. A platform is welded onto all pipes.

Important! Gutter is 2 metal pipes, to which a curved sheet of metal is welded. After assembling the slide, everything welds must be sanded; a grinder is used for these purposes.

After completing the assembly of the structure, the slide can be painted with plain paint or painted. The metal gets very hot under the sun, so on hot days it is worth covering the slide with a beach umbrella to prevent children from burning their skin.

Play complex with slide and swings

A simple slide can be made using a descent from a house, which is also built with your own hands, using timber or leftover building materials:

  1. Concrete piles are mounted in 4 old car tires and on which beams of the required height are installed vertically. The beams are secured with construction corners.
  2. A frame for the house is installed along the perimeter of the posts, with holes for entry through the stairs and exit through the slide.
  3. After this, a light but durable ladder, a chute for descent, the floor and walls of the future house are installed. The elements are attached using self-tapping screws, and the entire wooden structure must be coated with an antiseptic.
  4. Holes are drilled at the joints of the beams, tightening the structure with 120 mm bolts.
  5. Next, stack rafter elements from timber for the roof. The final roof covering is made of corrugated sheeting. Decorative tiles made from ordinary colored foam are often used.

The last stage is to cover the entire structure with a layer of varnish.

How much does a finished slide cost?

To avoid the hassle of making it, you can simply purchase a slide:

  • Inflatable slide for the little ones. This slide is an ideal solution for small children, because it can be equipped with a shallow pool, mini-trampoline or educational elements. The cost of an inflatable slide starts from 4 thousand rubles, usually it has a height of more than 1.4 m. The advantages of the slide are its mobility, resistance to temperature changes, and after the child grows up, the inflatable center can be sold at a profit.

You can buy a slide, but it will be more expensive than building it yourself

  • Play complexes are made of plastic, in some cases combined with wood. This type of city is more expensive, and the minimum cost starts at 4.5 thousand rubles for the most primitive model. But plastic slides can combine swings that develop the muscle corset, parallel bars, basketball basket and much more. Thanks to the fastening system, the height of the gutter can be adjusted to suit the age and height of the child.

Creating a children's slide is a creative process, and a full-fledged play area requires a swing, a sandbox and even football goal. But it is much cheaper to build these elements of a children’s corner yourself, because purchasing a finished product requires 60% more material resources.

Slide for children at the dacha: photo

Children have always loved and still love to ride on carousels and swings. Now these children's structures are manufactured on an industrial scale. They can be purchased at many retail outlets. But some of them can be built on our own. In this article we will look at how to make a children's slide.

Construction requirements

Territory country house is a great place to install a children's slide. Making one for children is not very difficult if you follow certain rules:

  • The age of the children does not at all affect the fact that the design should provide for such required elements like fencing and railings. While playing, the child becomes inattentive and may fall from a height, and these elements will help him maintain his balance.
  • For the construction of the building, you need to use only environmentally friendly materials that will be harmless to children's health. It is prohibited to use structural elements that are easily flammable.
  • When building a children's slide for a summer residence, it is preferable wooden materials. Metal constructions in general, they are no worse than wooden ones, but they have some disadvantages. We must not forget that for children the most active time of the year is summer with the burning rays of the sun. To prevent children from getting burned on very hot metal, a structure made of this material will have to be placed in a shaded area. The wooden structure can be placed in any convenient place. There are also plastic slides, but their material is not very durable and can crack at any time. In addition, such designs are widely presented in stores, so it makes no sense to make them yourself.

The slide must be designed in such a way that it is primarily safe for children. The children's structure should have no slotted partitions or dangerous gaps, since children, in the heat of play, can insert any part of their body into the existing hole and be seriously injured when descending. All details must be calculated down to the smallest detail, otherwise unforeseen troubles may occur.

Manufacturing process

  • To build a children's slide, the first thing you need to do is build a slide. It is made from several boards, which must be the same in width and length. The wooden base must be carefully sanded so that children can descend comfortably and safely. The boards are connected to each other with several bars on the bottom side.
  • After the descent is constructed, it is time to attach the side structural parts to it. As work progresses, it is necessary to determine the height of the structure that children will climb and the angle of inclination of the ramp. Factory-made slides have standard sizes: 1.3 m – height, 55º – angle of inclination. These parameters must also be adhered to when building a homemade structure. The side boards should be of such length that their ends extend to the top of the platform and serve as a kind of handrail for grasping before descending. The side boards are attached on both sides to the base of the slope using self-tapping screws. The sides, as well as the escapement, must be well sanded, sharp corners cut off and smoothed with sandpaper or an angle grinder grinding wheel. These safety measures will prevent children from getting injured while playing.
  • After the descent is ready, markings are made for the children's structure. Using a garden drill, holes are made in the ground into which beams are installed, the ends of which are coated with mastic on the bottom side. It will not allow the tree to rot quickly. After this, the installation site of the beams is filled with concrete.
  • In the upper part of the beams, using a saw, grooves are cut out with such a depth and width so that strapping strips can be inserted into the racks without any problems. These wooden elements are connected to the beams using self-tapping screws. The strapping strips will perform 2 functions simultaneously. Firstly, they will make the structure of the children's slide more rigid and stable. Secondly, they will play a role protective fence. Children will feel safe on the playground.
  • 2 more wooden crossbars are attached to the resulting frame structure. A ladder will be attached to them on one side, and a ready-made descent on the other. Then comes the turn of installing a wooden floor, which is constructed from boards using self-tapping screws. Small gaps are left between the floor boards to allow water to escape during and after rainfall. For greater strength, the joints of wooden structures are fastened with metal corners.

The children's slide has been completed, and children will now be able to enjoy their free time.

So that children at the dacha or near the house do not explore the beds or other places where they should not be, they need a corner that is interesting to them. As a rule, parents come to the idea of the need to create a playground or a sports corner - it depends on the age and desires of the children. A self-made playground is good because during its construction you can provide for the possibility of its gradual transformation. After all, what suits 2-3 year olds no longer appeals to 5-6 year olds, and even more so to older children. And besides, a do-it-yourself playground is often built not so much for reasons of economy as out of a desire to please the child: who knows better than the parents what your child likes... Someone needs Pirates' ship, and for some, their own, real house with a porch, a door and all the necessary attributes.

Choosing a location

It will be a difficult task to solve. Firstly, it is desirable that the playground be viewed from the house, and from the room in which someone is located most of the time. Ideal if the site is visible from several rooms or points. Secondly, it should be located away from outbuildings with “aromas”, if there are any. Thirdly, it is advisable to take into account the fertility of the soil: an infertile area or one with complex geology can be allocated for the gaming complex: there is no need to dig into the ground too much, maximum - bury the pillars 30-40 cm deep.

When choosing a location, it’s a good idea to place a children’s play corner near a wall or a permanent fence. These zones can quickly be fully used, and in in this case they can be used for games. For example, make a mini-climbing wall on the wall, attach rope ladders, a slate board and other devices no less interesting for children. You probably know what your children like, and if you don’t know, you can find out: there are enough fences and walls, place different devices in different areas and observe where your child lingers longer. So, find out which games he is more drawn to, and you will know in which direction to move next.

Lighting also needs to be taken into account. The place where children play should not be constantly in the shade, but the sun is also not needed. Approximately 2/3 of the area should be in the shade (, swing), and 1/3 - in the sun - if there is an area for active games. If there is no shade on the site, you will have to come up with a canopy or put up a large umbrella.

At the same time, please ensure that there is no constant draft in the area of the proposed site. Children, of course, need to be hardened, but not in this way. When choosing a place for a children's play area, pay attention to the fact that there are no electrical appliances or any shields, machines or other similar devices located nearby. Children are curious and inventive, so it's best not to take risks.

What area is needed

A little about the area that needs to be allocated for a children's playground. Small children do not need much space - a sandbox, a few very simple equipment, small pool, if you consider it possible. It's nice to have a lawn or a flat, smooth piece of land with some suitable coating, where you can lie down to your heart's content. That's all. An area of 4-5 square meters is enough for all this. meters.

For small children, it is advisable to fence off the area. This will give you the opportunity not to be constantly nearby, but to do your own thing nearby: your children will be visible and safe. The fence can be anything - it’s a matter of your imagination, desire and capabilities. The main requirement is that it must be safe and durable or completely inaccessible to children. For example, like the chain-link mesh you see in the photo above. It comes with a plastic coating bright colors and it doesn’t look as harsh as the usual one.

PVC-coated chain-link mesh is a good option for fencing playgrounds

If for some reason you don’t like this option, you can put up a picket fence that will be about the height of the children’s shoulders; the distance between adjacent planks should be such that their heads cannot fit through it. Pickets can be painted with different colors.

Picket fence - a familiar fence in an unusual design

Just make sure that the tops are rounded and do not have sharp corners, and that they are well processed: splinters are very frustrating for children. The picket fence must be secured firmly. With the expectation that children will definitely hang on them and jump.

Rope fencing is rarely used, but it looks good and performs its functions perfectly: durable, safe, and aesthetically attractive.

Rope fence for a playground - durable, inexpensive, reliable and safe

For older children, the fence is a relic. For them, the field of activity is the entire site, and only something truly interesting can distract them. More space is also needed here. If possible, give children under 7 years old 8-9 m2, from 7 to 12 years old - up to 12 m2. There is already a more serious set of shells, which is why larger areas are required.

Playground covering

This is a complex topic with very difficult choices. While children are small, it is perfect for them (there is a special composition of herbs with high abrasion resistance). He is not so attractive in appearance, but he is able to endure little mischief-makers with almost no damage. The disadvantage of lawns is the need for regular maintenance: watering, mowing, etc.

For small children perfect coverage on the playground - lawn grass

The lawn can no longer cope with the load from the games of older children. Especially in the area of active games: near slides, swings. These are the most problematic areas. If you leave these areas “as is,” then when it rains, a puddle will form under them, and after a couple of “races,” it will turn into a swamp. There is a good solution: make a drainage pad out of crushed stone, and pour sand on top of it or lay a rubber covering like what is used in stadiums. It is durable and strong.

To remove moisture from the playground area, remove the soil to a depth of 15-20 cm, fill and compact crushed stone, pour sand on top and also compact it. Both layers are approximately 10-15 cm each. During construction, you can stop there: landing on such a site is already good. But the sand is gradually being pulled away and will have to be renewed periodically. You can lay out a rubber mat. This is more serious, you just need to make a slight slope so that the water rolls off it during rain. Some people simply install rubber mats, which are replaced as they wear out.

Another solution is to fill the entire area with fine, sifted sand. It will need to be leveled and topped up periodically, but this is perhaps the most practical solution.

Sand playground covering is “quick and hassle-free”

Another option is to add crushed bark. Another question is that not everyone has the opportunity to take this bark. But if there is, try it. The coating is soft and non-traumatic. You just need to chop it well and remove any chips that may be there.

The more technologically advanced ones include the following:

  • Regupol. Factory rubber coating, laid on a flat concrete or asphalt base. Cost - $25-70 per square meter.
  • Rubber crumb coating with added binder. It is poured onto a prepared leveled area (you can use compacted sand laid on top of crushed stone). Price - $25-80 per square meter.
  • Modular high density PVC systems. Plates that are connected like puzzles. The price per square is $50-70.
  • Artificial grass. It is laid on a prepared base of quartz sand and rubber crumbs and requires water drainage. Depending on the height of the pile, it costs from $40 to $80.

It's hard to choose. There are too many mutually exclusive demands and desires, but you have to choose something. The most common option is lawn, the second most popular is sand. The remaining coatings are applied only in places - in the most “loaded” parts.

Choosing equipment for the playground

It is best to plan elements of a playground with children. After all, it is for them that you are going to build a play area, and it is their desires that you need to listen to. Often we try to reproduce what in our understanding should be interesting for them, and then we are surprised that the children play anywhere, but not on the playground that was built with such love. All because you have fulfilled your desires and expectations, not children’s. Listen to what the child wants, visit guests who already have similar structures, see where the child spends more time. On this basis it is already possible to build something.

For children, the playground must have a sandbox. This develops their coordination and allows them to develop faster. The usual design - four boards - is not a problem to knock down, but I want it to be beautiful as well. A sandbox machine will be interesting for boys. It is made of moisture-resistant laminated plywood painted in two colors.

Under the hood is a toy box. Inside the cabin, there is also an “entrance” to this box.

In general, wooden cars are great fun for boys. They are busy there enthusiastically. another option from an old barrel.

By the way, you can also arrange a sandbox in the back...

Another one interesting idea- how to make a shadow over the playing area: fix a rod at a height, throw an awning over it, making a kind of tent. It’s not hot, and there’s shade.

Almost a ship...

Children's houses

The most popular part of a play corner among children is their own house, where they can hide from the all-seeing eye of adults and set their own rules. For children, it doesn’t matter what their house is built from. They play well in a tent made of fabric, a hut made of branches. There are many designs that are quickly and easily “built”. Moreover, even the little ones can be involved in this construction: it will be even more interesting to play in a house built with your own hands.

For example, a hut. Watch children playing. This is exactly the building that they erect most often. IN different regions they call it differently: some call it their “headquarters”, others “home”, hut, hut. They usually use sticks, blankets, and other available materials. The following several designs of houses for children were made based on this “house construction”.

Most cheap way build a summer children's house: put several poles in a hut, plant bindweed around it and wait a couple of weeks for them to grow. This living hut can have any shape: in the form of a cone, as in the photo, a traditional hut, more like a house, etc. Tie the poles together with twine, plastic clamps or something similar. It is only important to ensure a sufficiently stable frame, otherwise naughty children may topple the structure.

In general, there is no need to wait until the plants grow. You can sew a fabric cover, make an entrance like in a wigwam... There are a lot of possibilities for using your imagination.

Fast and absolutely safe way to build a children's hut - fasten panels of fabric to a hoop. Hang this structure, for example, on a tree. Lay out the mats under it and attach the panels to the edges. It will turn out great summer house, in which children will feel cool and comfortable.

A hut made of hoop and fabric - fast, cheap, safe

Moreover, this design is suitable not only for girls. Hang camouflage netting or camouflage fabric on the hoop. The boys will definitely set up their headquarters in it.

If your child dreams of a house like yours, there are even more options. It is usually built according to frame technology: they bury the pillars in the corners, attach the lower and top harness. The lower frame is the base for the floor, the top one is the base for the ceiling. If the house is planned to be high, a sandbox is often placed below. The house located on top protects it from rain and sun.

If the house is planned at ground level, construction can be started differently. Place the blocks on which it will stand level, lay timber on them (80*80 mm or 100*100 mm), connect it into a rectangle, fasten the corners with metal overlay plates. Then attach the racks to the bottom frame in the corners, which will become a support for the walls and roof.

Some children like to have a house, just like adults: with a porch, a real door and window, a sofa... Parents have also done this more than once. The basis is the same: timber from which the frame of the building is assembled, and it is sheathed depending on desire. It’s faster to work with sheet material, such as waterproof plywood, and longer with boards or clapboard.

Slides for children

Slides are no less popular with kids. The fast descent is a lot of fun. This is where difficulties arise for parents. What to make a children's slide from? The traditional coating - a sheet of stainless steel - has now become very expensive, and leaving it on the street unattended is dangerous - it will be carried away. Ordinary steel will not work - it rusts very quickly, so you have to look for a replacement. There are several options:

Moreover, it is very rare to make a slide at the dacha or near the house. Usually this is only part of the play complex, which includes various equipment: rope and ordinary ladders with different angles of inclination, hanging paths, nets, swings on chains or ropes, poles with crossbars and, in general, everything you can think of. You will find some ideas below in the photo gallery.

A wooden slide is only part of a play corner for children in the country. A set of stairs, a swing with a children's slide

Swing

Hanging ones are popular not only among children, but also among adults. There are quite a few different options- from models for babies to older children. You saw some of them in the photo above. To create such entertainment, you do not need many materials: chains or ropes on which the seat will be attached.

If you use ropes, you need to regularly check their condition: they become less durable from exposure to the sun and can fray. Chains are more reliable in this regard: they can withstand heavy loads, but they pose another danger: when the chain links move, they can pinch the skin. It is very painful and results in large bruises. But there is a way out. In order to hold on safely, hoses are put on the chain in those places where they are grasped with hands. Their shell protects the hands of children and adults who swing the swing (or ride themselves).

The only problem is that curious kids love to pick at the pipes, so look at them periodically. Sometimes covers made of very dense fabric such as tarpaulin are used as a protective layer.

Questions often arise about how to attach chains or ropes to the crossbar. The most popular solution is carabiners. But they have two drawbacks: when rocking, they creak quite a lot, and they gradually wear out. The rate of wear depends on the mass of swinging children (they do not always sit on the swing alone) and on the intensity of use. Both problems can be partially solved by periodic lubrication, but only partially. The second option is to use bearings, but you can’t do without welding. See the photo below for several options for attaching the swing to the crossbar.

Where can I get such devices? In stores selling rigging. Perhaps you will find other ideas there.

The question often arises: how and from what to make a seat. Yes, from anything. Even from a tire or a piece of tarpaulin, an old chair - wooden or plastic, just a piece of board. Craftsmen manage to use an old chair.

A circle tied with ropes is a great option

An old chair on a swing - why not?

Having slightly modified them and hung them only slightly above the ground, we teach not a swing, but a simulator for developing balance. The option with a skateboard will be especially interesting for boys. And on the wide platform you can swing while sitting...

Stairs and walkways

Stairs are one of the key elements that connects all the disparate parts into a single whole, allowing you to move from one projectile to another. They are made from well-treated wood. The steps should be round (at least 5 cm in diameter so that they are easy to grasp with your hands) and straight. You can make rope steps: they are harder to climb, but they develop coordination well.

Rope climb - difficult, but very interesting to overcome

Hang a rope net on one side and make a rope ladder. It’s not for nothing that rope projectiles are present in all extreme shows. They are safe, but require well-developed coordination and dexterity. At first it’s hard for the kids, but it’s precisely these “projectiles” that they are drawn to.

A rope wall and ladder are a great way to make your play area more interesting.

Here is the basic set of elements from which children's playgrounds are assembled. For older boys, you can add a horizontal bar and rings. They already need to develop not only coordination, but also muscular strength. In general, there can be a lot of ideas. Some of them are in the photo below. We hope that the playground made by your efforts will bring joy to the children and pleasure to you: it’s always nice to look at something you’ve made with your own hands.

Do children's activities seem unsafe to you? Are you afraid that your child might get injured while looking for adventure? The best way out of the situation is not to ban, but to provide a safe place for games! Moreover, making a children's slide with your own hands is not so difficult. For this you will need a minimum of material, construction tool and a little imagination. A practical advice on construction, design drawings and recommendations regarding the choice of building materials can be found below.

What you need to know to build a children's slide

The proverb about the need to measure several times before cutting is especially relevant when building a play complex for a child. After all, mistakes in this matter are unforgivable!

Playground slide with swings

Five golden rules for a play slide

A children's slide must first of all be safe and comfortable:

  1. The descent must necessarily have a “brake pad” - a section where the ramp is parallel to the surface of the pad. Otherwise, the speed of descent will not decrease, which may lead to injury to the child.
  2. The length of a self-made children's slide should be exactly twice the height of the structure. So, if the length of the ramp is 5 m, the height of the launch pad cannot be more than 2.5 m.
  3. There should be no buildings or fences within a radius of 1 m near the descent area. This is necessary so that the child cannot hit himself if he accelerates too much.
  4. It is necessary to provide a special covering in the descent area (sand, rubber mats, etc.). There shouldn't be a swamp there in rainy weather!
  5. If a sandbox or hammock will be placed under the structure, you need to sew up the “ceiling” in advance and make a roof over the launch pad (to drain water). Otherwise, sand from children's feet will fall onto the heads of those located below.

How to choose material for a slope

The choice of materials for covering the descent is not that great. And, taking into account the requirements that ensure the safety of the child, it is completely narrowed down to several options. But, before listing the features of these materials, let’s look at what you cannot use to make a children’s slide with your own hands:

  • Polycarbonate (especially cellular). This material, firstly, does not glide well, and secondly, when broken, it forms dangerous chips. In addition, in summer, polycarbonate expands, creating waves. Therefore, the slide will quickly become unusable in hot weather.
  • PVC panels. A very fragile material that cannot withstand harsh winters.
  • Glass mats. Strictly not recommended for contact with the skin of a child.

How to achieve a “mirror” wood surface

Building a wooden children's slide with your own hands is a reality! But only if you are ready to devote several days to making a slippery wooden ramp. After all, in order to apply several layers of yacht varnish and sand the surface in between applications, it will take a lot of time.

Why is a wooden slide attractive?

Pros of a wooden slide:

  • The child will be surrounded by environmentally friendly, natural materials.
  • The surface will not heat up as much in the heat as, for example, metal.
  • In winter, a wooden slope can be filled with water and turned into an ice slide.

Disadvantages of a slope made of wood:

  • If there is sand on the site, the varnished surface will very quickly become unusable. Children will bring sand on their clothes and scratch the slope with it, like sandpaper. So be prepared to renew your coverage annually!
  • The slightest oversight while sanding the surface can result in splinters and scratches for the baby after skating.
  • Sliding speed wooden surface in any case, it will be low, which will quickly make a wooden slide uninteresting for growing children.
  • IN summer time it will be impossible to convert the slide into a water park, that is, to supply water to the slope.

Advice! Instead of wood, it is better to use Finnish plywood to cover the slope of the slide. It is much more moisture resistant and perfectly withstands the effects of precipitation.

Secrets of slippery surfaces

A few secrets on how to make a wooden children's slide truly slippery:

  • A wooden slope (dry and sanded) can be coated with a special oil that protects the surface (for example, Pinotex). This must be done in several layers. Thanks to this procedure, the wood will not lose its smoothness, and moisture will roll off well without destroying the surface.
  • Sanding the wood layer by layer after each application of varnish will help achieve the effect of a mirror surface and make the slide really slippery.
  • A plywood slope can be covered liquid acrylic, used for bathtub renovation. In addition to excellent glide, this option is also good because you can choose almost any color of the coating! But it should be remembered that scratches will form on it quite quickly, into which dirt will invariably accumulate. This will not affect the functionality of the slide, but appearance the design will be damaged.

Sanded wood escapement

Advice! The joint of plywood sheets looks much more aesthetically pleasing if their edges are sawed off with a jigsaw at an angle of 45º. In this option, the sheets are arranged as if overlapping, and one element “crawls” onto the other.

Metal coating – we care about the safety of the baby

A ramp made of stainless steel or galvanized sheets is a “classic of the genre” when building a children’s slide with your own hands. But this solution also has its drawbacks.

  1. Firstly, in order to cover the entire slide, you need to either overlap it or spend money on a much more expensive sheet of metal of a larger size (sheets 2.5 and 6 m long are available for sale). There is a third option - take time to search construction company, which will agree to “cut off” the required piece of stainless steel from the existing roll.
  2. Secondly, stainless steel (like other metals) gets very hot in the sun. Therefore, it is recommended to place the ramp on the north side in order to reduce the intensity of illumination of the structure. But such a layout is not always possible on the site!
  3. Thirdly, thin steel is very sharp and completely unsafe for a child. A carelessly bent corner can cause serious injury to your baby! Therefore, you need to bend the sheet extremely carefully, firmly fixing it to the base board.

Metal slide with handrails

Advice! Instead of a galvanized sheet to cover the slide, you can take alucobond (an aluminum panel) and attach it to liquid nails. The advantage of this solution is wide color palette material!

Secrets of good metal slide:

  1. The shield under the stainless steel sheet must be perfectly flat, without protrusions or differences. After all, stainless steel is extremely thin and does not compensate for surface imperfections. To do this, it is better to pre-cover the construction boards with fiberboard boards.
  2. It is not recommended to buy a mirror stainless steel, since it heats up much faster and stronger in sunny days. Much more best option– polished stainless steel.
  3. The sheet should be much wider and longer than the slide itself. After all, for the safety of the child, this covering around the entire perimeter needs to be folded and hidden under some kind of plinths or boards.

Advice! You only need to fasten the sheet of metal along the edges (to the sides and bottom). It is strictly forbidden to make fastenings on the surface of the slide slope!

Flooring slide - cheap and cheerful

Another interesting and inexpensive option is to cover the slide with a sheet of linoleum. The advantages of this solution are obvious:

  • the material is relatively cheap (you can buy scraps, which are sold at half the price);
  • a perfectly flat surface is not needed under linoleum due to its thickness and softness;
  • the base under this material does not rot, it protects the wood from moisture and temperature changes (if linoleum is on the sides, in the summer you can make a water slide);
  • linoleum softens shocks and does not form dangerous sharp corners, chips or splinters, like other coating options.

A linoleum slide is suitable for home

But such a slide also has quite a few disadvantages:

  • the coating must be changed annually due to its rapid wear;
  • in very hot weather, linoleum can melt, which is dangerous in terms of getting burns;
  • the sliding speed on this material is very low;
  • the design with linoleum does not look very aesthetically pleasing.

For optimal gliding, felt or felt mats can be provided for skating.

Building a wooden slide for a child - step-by-step instructions

Every child's dream is a multifunctional playground, with which you can realize any ideas for games. So, step-by-step instruction for building a children's slide with your own hands.

Proper preparation is the key to successful construction

Preparatory stage:

  1. Remove fertile soil at the construction site and level the soil. Fill the area with sand and let it settle and compact (it is advisable to complete this stage in the fall, and begin building the slide in the spring).
  2. Prepare wooden blanks (stringers, railings, boards for steps and “tunnels”, beams for the base): if necessary, dry everything, saw it to the selected size and carefully sand it, and then soak it with a protective mixture.
  3. Paint the steps, handrails and boards for the “tunnel” with multi-colored enamel in 2 layers with intermediate sanding.
  4. From 12-gauge plywood, cut out the side elements (for lining the tunnel) and the sides of the slide. Treat the elements with impregnation.

Installation technique for the base structure

Frame installation:

  1. Build a foundation. To do this, you need to make holes with a garden drill, install the reinforcement in them at a level and fill everything with concrete.
  2. Weld the corners to the fittings. Make cuts in the pillars for the base of the slide and mount the timber on the corners, securing everything with self-tapping screws. Connect the pillars to each other with jibs.
  3. Make a staircase: fasten the stringers (it is advisable to add boards on the back side for additional structural rigidity), put steps on them.
  4. Install a launch pad with a ladder leading to it.
  5. Next, make a base for the descent from timber and install a curved metal profile (25x40) for the slope.

Bearing structures

The final stage - we finish construction

Do-it-yourself slope and lining of a slide for a playground:

  1. Lay a plywood board on the base for the ramp and make a galvanized iron deck. Fold parts of the sheet along the perimeter and attach them to the bottom metal profile. Cut a gap in the boards forming the platform and also wrap the iron flooring there.
  2. Make a tunnel from boards under the slope. Sew up the side parts with plywood.
  3. Install bumpers on the slide and railings on the stairs.
  4. Mount hipped roof and cover it with pre-treated plywood.
  5. Sew up the side parts of the structure with sheets of plywood and cut holes in them for the climbing slide.

Advice! In order to maintain interest in the slide for a long time, it is advisable to provide additional entertainment elements at the launch site.

Playground– the dream of every child aged 3 to 13 years. And in order for the play area to meet the changing needs of children, all the details need to be thought through at the planning stage. To do this, you may need to invite a specialist who will save you from the need to make a children's slide with your own hands. And then a real play complex will appear on your site - safe and comfortable.

Video: DIY children's slide

Parents who have small children often have to visit playgrounds so that the child can swing on a swing, play in the sandbox, or go down the slide. But adults don’t always have enough time for such events, especially if the site is far away. Having your own plot, you can make this kind of entertainment for your child at home. This will solve many problems for parents, and the child will always play under supervision. Today we will talk about how to make a children's slide with your own hands from scrap materials.

A metal slide is a common structure dating back to Soviet times. It was installed on the playground along with a sandbox. Metal is the strongest and most durable material. But under the influence of external negative factors it is subject to corrosion, so it is better to use stainless steel or galvanized metal to make the slide. At self-production slides at home, be sure to have a drawing at hand.

Materials and tools you will need:

  • metal pipes with a diameter of 15-25 mm, rods;
  • corners with a section of 50x50 mm, 20x20 mm;
  • galvanized sheet metal;
  • multi-colored paints, cement, crushed stone;
  • welding machine, grinder, crowbar, hammer.

Having prepared necessary materials, at the site of future installation, you begin to manufacture the structure according to the drawing:

  1. Start manufacturing with the frame. For upper platform From the corner, weld a square measuring 1.5 x 1.5 m. Place stiffening ribs crosswise inside it. Weld the top of the square to the corners a metal sheet thickness of at least 1 mm of the same size. If possible, use corrugated iron; it will provide stability and the child will not slip on the playground.
  2. Weld the finished platform to the racks. To make them, you will need a pipe with a diameter of 25 mm and a length of 3 m. Weld heels from any metal scraps to the ends of the racks, the lower part of which will be concreted.
  3. Under the welded frame, mark and dig 4 holes about 1 m deep with a drill. Compact the bottom with small stones or crushed stone. Lower the frame posts into the holes, leveling the structure plumb. Knead cement mortar with crushed stone and fill the holes. After about a week, the solution will completely harden and construction can continue.
  4. From a 20 mm pipe for stability, weld the frame frame crosswise between the posts. From the edge of the platform down to the ground at an angle of 45°, weld a descent of 2 corners with a section of 50x50 mm parallel to each other. Across the corners, weld strips for steps from corners with a section of 20x20 mm at a distance of 20 cm from each other. Sew up the plane of the steps wooden planks or corrugated iron.
  5. Weld handrails from 15 mm pipe on both sides of the stepped descent. Sew up the openings between the handrails and the descent metal mesh or thin rods.
  6. The chute is made from 2 pipes with a diameter of 20 mm. Bend the lower part of the pipes with a pipe bender or by heating it with a cutter. You should end up with a design consisting of a steep slope that smoothly turns into a horizontal plane. Weld the upper part of the gutter to the other edge of the platform. Fix the stiffeners between the gutter pipes. Weld galvanized sheet metal on top with a thickness of at least 1 mm. If you can’t make a descent from solid galvanized steel, then weld smaller sheets overlapping along the descent.
  7. Bent the sides of the gutter guard from a 15 mm pipe. They need to be welded parallel to the bottom at a height of 30 cm, and the sides must be sewn up with galvanized sheet metal. In several places, weld supports for the gutter from any remaining pipes.
  8. The metal structure is ready. All that remains is to process it with a grinding machine to remove all sharp protrusions. The design can be decorated with multi-colored paints to make it attractive to the child. There is no need to paint the bottom of the slide, otherwise the coating will reduce slipping.

Wooden slide

It’s easier to make wooden slides at home yourself; there’s no need for welding work. Wooden structures less durable than metal ones, but wood can be used to make a beautiful playground with a sandbox, a house, rope ladders and other equipment. For DIY construction, it is better to use coniferous wood. Materials and tools you will need:

  • 4 beams with a section of 100 x 100 mm, timber with a section of 50 x 50 mm, edged board with a section of 25 x 150 mm;
  • galvanized iron 1 mm thick or linoleum;
  • screws, nails, antiseptic, varnish or multi-colored paints;
  • cement, crushed stone;
  • electric planer, grinder, screwdriver, hammer, sandpaper.

As always, start your work by drawing up a design drawing. Decide whether there will be a slide with or without a house, and draw its diagram. This will make it possible to calculate the consumption of material, and will also facilitate further construction.

Everything is ready, you can start carpentry work:

From the remaining material, make wooden benches or a sandbox near the slide. They will decorate the playground, bringing joy to children.

Plastic slides

You won’t be able to make a plastic structure yourself; you can only buy it in a store. Such slides are produced in one piece and in collapsible ones. The owner can only install the slide on the site. Collapsible models are better suited for dachas. They are convenient to disassemble for storage in winter period. This will prevent theft and vandalism while the dachas are left unattended by the owners.

Plastic models use different gutters, which children really like. They come in screw, tubular, straight and other shapes. If the child still wants an unusual descent, and the parents do not have enough money to buy it, you can make it for the dacha or at home combined option slides. The fact is that gutters are sold separately. They are also made to order in any shape. All you have to do is make a metal one or wooden frame and attach a plastic trigger to it.

A children's playground built independently for a dacha or at home will decorate the yard and provide children with entertainment in the summer.
