Installation of equipment is preceded by measures to adapt the premises in accordance with current requirements. They are set out in detail in the Technical Conditions issued by Oblgaz or Gorgaz. This is relevant for organizing heating using liquefied or natural gas. But usually, in the latter case, they neglect to issue an official permit, which can lead to a serious fine and a ban on the use of the existing heat supply system.

The document regulating the requirements for the premises for the installation of gas heating boilers is developed on the basis of the following regulations:

  • SNiP 02/31/2001. Designed for control construction work and building design.
  • SNiP 42-01-2002. Describes the rules for organizing gas distribution systems.

Requirements for organizing the boiler room

If the boiler power does not exceed 200 kW, any built-in rooms in the house can be used as a boiler room. These include basement and basement rooms.   • the presence of a transom or window to reduce gas concentration in the event of a leak, providing three air changes in 1 hour;

  • if the boiler room is located on the first or basement floor, a separate passage must be installed, the door must open outward;
  • ceiling height – at least 2.5 m;
  • On the walls in the boiler installation area, fire-resistant material is installed, the fire resistance limit of which is at least 0.75 hours.

The placement of heat supply components is free. The main requirement is that nearby objects should not interfere with repair or maintenance work.

Characteristics of the kitchen for installing a gas boiler

The power of most gas boilers rarely exceeds 30 kW. This makes it possible to install them in the kitchen of a house or apartment. This is also done with the approval of regulatory organizations. Many of the rules described above apply to this case, but given the specifics of the room, there are additional ones.

To install a gas boiler in the kitchen, you must adhere to the following rules:

  • the minimum permissible room volume is from 15 m³;
  • for a boiler with an open combustion chamber, three air exchanges are provided within one hour;
  • the wall at the equipment installation site must be made of non-combustible materials, the minimum distance from it to the boiler is 10 cm;
  • for wall-mounted models, the distance to the ceiling is from 15 cm, to the side wall – from 10 cm;
  • When installing boilers with an open combustion chamber, the installation of a hood is prohibited.

In practice, preparing the kitchen will require significantly less effort. Thus, ventilation can be ensured by installing a grille or a gap of 0.02 m² at the bottom of the door.

At the same time, there are special requirements for installing a gas boiler in a private house. Their implementation is mandatory for all types of equipment in order to ensure a minimum degree of risk when burning explosive fuel in residential buildings and individual structures.

Requirements for premises and air exchange

An important advantage of a private house, in contrast to city apartments, is the ability to allocate non-residential premises for installation heating equipment. In current regulatory documents a number of requirements for the size and arrangement of such rooms are given. The main ones:

  • a total area of ​​4 m2 or more should ensure that the boiler can be placed at a distance of 350 mm from the outer wall;
  • ceiling height of at least 2.5 meters;
  • the floor level in the furnace room is not lower than the zero level of the building;
  • the width of the entrance door is from 800 mm, and the door should open outward;
  • the mandatory presence of a glazed window, the area of ​​which is determined depending on the thermal performance of the gas boiler;

  • The minimum cross-sectional area of ​​the air channel for supply natural ventilation is 8 cm 2 for each kW of heating unit power.

When organizing the air supply, it is necessary to take into account the amount used for gas combustion and also add three times the air exchange for the volume of the room.

All the walls and internal partitions must be built from non-combustible fireproof materials with a fire resistance rating of at least 45 minutes. Room layout and device ventilation ducts should not contribute to the spread of flame in a fire.

The volume of free space not occupied by installed equipment is standardized depending on the power of the installed boilers:

  • for heating units up to 30 kW - less than 7.5 m 3;
  • 60 kW – 13.5 m 3 ;
  • more than 60 kW – 15 m 3.

Installation of a gas boiler in a private house with a total thermal output of more than 200 kW is prohibited. In this case, the power of one unit should not exceed 100 kW.

Flue gas removal

Channels and pipes designed to remove gas combustion products must ensure normal combustion in the boiler furnace. Due to this:

  • the cross-section of the smoke exhaust duct should not be less than the dimensions of the boiler connecting pipe;
  • it is allowed to reduce the cross-sectional area of ​​the chimney if the design of the heating unit provides for the forced removal of combustion products and air supply;
  • channels can be located inside capital walls and partitions of appropriate thickness or be attached to them;
  • the material for the manufacture of chimneys must be fireproof and not subject to active corrosion;
  • the design of the chimney must include a special hatch for cleaning the channel from soot and a device for draining the resulting condensate;
  • the height of the chimney is higher than the ridge of the roof or a line at an angle of 15° when moving away from it.

All butt connections of elements are made airtight and exclude not only the release of combustion products into the premises, but also the possibility of air leaks and a decrease in draft.

Preparatory activities

Please note that when calculating windows, the glass area is considered, not the size of the window opening. Moreover, in some cases they require at least one glass with an area of ​​at least 0.8 square meter. Questions may arise regarding asbestos sheet: today it is recognized as a material hazardous to health. You can replace it with a layer of cardboard from mineral wool. And also keep in mind that ceramic tiles are also considered a fireproof base, even if they are laid on wooden walls: a layer of glue and ceramics provide the required fire resistance.

The installation of a gas boiler relative to the side walls is also regulated. If the wall is non-flammable, the distance cannot be less than 10 cm. For flammable and non-combustible walls, this distance is 25 cm (without additional protection).

If a floor-standing gas boiler is installed, the base must be non-flammable. A non-flammable stand is made on the wooden floor. It must provide a fire resistance rating of 0.75 hours (45 minutes).
