Mountain romance, simplicity and elusive, special beauty lie in houses built in the chalet style. It’s not for nothing that they are called combined, because they are built simultaneously from wood and stone. Thanks to this, such buildings acquire unique properties. Combined houses in the chalet style, the designs of which are quite diverse, have long attracted the attention of architects. And, it is worth noting, it is well deserved. It's time to get to know them better.

Chalet-style houses “descended” to us from the Alpine mountains. The name of the style is the name small sizes a rural house, the home of shepherds who grazed cattle in the mountains and built houses from what was at hand. Most often these are ordinary stones and mountain pine, which grows in abundance in those areas. The lower part of the structure was built from stone, due to which it acquired excellent strength, resisting not only snow and wind, but even mountain avalanches. In the basement of the building, livestock also found shelter - young animals and weakened animals. The upper part of the building was made of wood, and the roof always had a sloping shape, which made it streamlined for the wind. And this, you see, is very important in windy mountainous areas. In a word, it was very good to hide in such houses during a raging disaster. And ordinary lime was used as finishing for the façade.

On a note! The homeland of chalet houses is the southeastern region of France, Savoy. Interestingly, houses built in this style are also called “Swiss houses.” The reason is that the homeland of the chalet bordered Italy and Switzerland, which gave the buildings their names. In general, it would be more correct to call houses in this style “Alpine”, since the birthplace of such buildings is the very heart of the Alps.

Over time, the chalets from ordinary and unremarkable shepherd's huts turned into real residential buildings. Shepherds cared more and more about comfort and everyday life; they not only took refuge in such buildings from bad weather, but also came here to rest.

Interesting! Translated, Chalet just means “shepherd’s hut.” Also related words are Chale, which means “shawl,” and Chaleur, which translates as “warmth.”

In Russia they also liked to build combined houses. Around the middle of the 19th century, merchants built just such structures in order to save money.

Thus, a chalet is not only a reliable, but also a cozy and comfortable home, although it looks somewhat spartan in its traditional appearance. Although now chalets can be quite elegant and resemble real mansions. Such houses are popular among romantic people; they are often found in rural areas, but they look especially harmonious in open spaces or mountain slopes.

Architecture and general appearance

Despite the fact that many years have passed, the chalet houses have not changed fundamentally, except that they have become cozier, more comfortable, and have beautiful interior and all the necessary equipment, and outside there is an extension-garage, a more beautiful and modern facade.

The chalets still remained combined houses - a stone lower floor, a wooden upper floor, a sloping roof that hangs widely over the walls of the house, which allows it not only to resist the wind, but also to protect wooden facade buildings from rain and other factors environment. Sometimes the roof extension was 3 m - such a structure could protect even the basement from bad weather.

Important! Wide terraces and balconies, which are installed on stilts and covered by roof overhangs, have become a kind of hallmark of the chalet. And on the first floor they usually do big windows, which allows you to enjoy the surrounding nature without leaving your home.

The main features of the chalet houses are the naturalness of the materials used, naturalness, and harmony with the surrounding world.

Advantages of chalet houses

In Europe, and especially in Germany, Norway, Denmark, chalets are found quite often, and there is a reason for this. The whole problem is the lack of forest - there is not much of it here. A wooden second floor allows you to significantly save money when building a house. But this is not the only reason why Europeans love such buildings. Chalet-style houses have a lot of advantages.

NameShort description
EconomicalHouses made of only stone are not a cheap pleasure. And here there is a combination of stone and wood, which reduces the cost of construction.
Original appearanceSuch houses are usually built by passionate, romantic people or those who want to show their individuality.
Environmental SafetySince houses are built only from natural materials, they do not cause any harm to human health or the environment.
Increasing fire resistance indicatorsIndeed, in the event of a fire, only the upper part of the home will burn. And it is easier to obtain permission to install heating boilers.
DurabilityWood, as you know, is prone to rotting over time, even treated with special preparations. In chalet houses, the first floor is made of stone, which is not afraid of these processes. During construction combined chalet you can even refuse to build a complex, expensive foundation, since the upper part of the structure is quite light
High energy efficiencyWood retains heat better than stone, which means the owner will be able to save some money on heating.
Space for design imaginationA chalet at home is a building where you can roam around and decorate it quite unusually, both externally and internally. But still, the emphasis should be placed on the inside of the house. The first floor may include a dining room, a garage, a swimming pool, and the second floor is an abode of coziness and comfort, ideal for an office or bedroom.

Materials used

As mentioned earlier, the main materials used to build a chalet house are wood and stone. No plastic or metal. Basement part, depending on the wishes of the owner, can be made of various “stone” materials - brick, aerated concrete, foam concrete are used. If the choice was made in favor of brick, the first floor must be additionally insulated according to the principle. That is, the main brickwork will be lined with an insulating layer on the outside, and decorative exterior finishing will be built on it.

Combined house 225 sq. m

Advice! If aerated concrete or foam concrete is used for the construction of the first floor, there is no need for additional insulation. That is why it is now recommended to abandon brick in favor of these materials. In addition, they are much lighter, which makes it possible to further reduce the cost and simplify the arrangement of the foundation.

The second floor can also be built from various materials.

By tradition, as roofing material wooden tiles (shingles) are used. It can be made of cedar, oak, aspen, and is fastened with dowel nails or galvanized staples. This roof absorbs noise very well and does not make noise when it rains. From modern materials today it is commonly used for roofing soft tiles. It looks no worse than natural shingles.

On a note! By the way, chalet houses can be decorated in the same style, that is, both the upper and lower floors will look the same. For example, they can be finished decorative plaster, siding, imitation timber. But in this case, the chalets will lose all their style and charm, so it is better not to decorate both floors with the same material.

Park-chalet "BENELUX"

Also, any other building can be artificially turned into a chalet house. To do this, a two-story building is sheathed on the bottom with decorative or wild stone, and on top with material imitating wood. Externally, such a house will be very similar to a traditional chalet, although inside it may be a structure made entirely of brick or wood.

Architectural styles typical of Western countries are now very popular among domestic developers. In elite Russian villages you can increasingly see houses stylized as French Provence, English classics, luxurious baroque or ultra-fashionable high-tech. But it evokes special sympathy among ordinary homeowners.

We build a chalet house with our own hands

You can do the chalet house project yourself, or you can hire specialists for this. But in the second case you will have to spend a certain amount. If you have the desire and time, then you can design a chalet house and then build it yourself. We invite you to get acquainted with the technology of building the chalet house shown below.

Chalet style house project - facade option

Stage 1. Design

The first floor will be built from 40 cm thick aerated concrete, and the second floor from profiled timber. The second floor will be insulated from the outside mineral wool and lined with imitation timber.

Step 1. A house project is being created: detailed study of the dimensions of the rooms, appearance buildings. According to the project, the house was 12x12 m in size, and its living area was 240 m2.

Step 2. The layout of aerated concrete blocks is immediately drawn in the project - this will make it easier to count their number.

Stage 2. Foundation and communications

Step 1. The place where the foundation pit will be prepared is cleared of grass.

Step 2. Markings are applied according to the site diagram for digging a pit in the part where the house will be built.

Step 3. A pit is being dug.

Step 4. In parallel with the preparation of the pit for the foundation, trenches for communications are also dug.

Digging trenches for communications

Step 5. Finished trenches (a cushion for pipes) are filled with sand and a well is dug.

Step 6. Pipes are being laid. The insulation for them is made of polystyrene foam 5 cm thick. The pipes are covered with sand, then with soil.

Step 7 The pit is filled with sand, leveled, and then covered with geotextiles.

Step 8 The pit is being filled with sand again, but this time on top of geotextiles. A layer 10 cm thick is leveled over the surface of the geotextile, compacted, spilled with water and compacted again. You need 3 such layers. Reinforcing beacons are installed.

Step 9 A trench is dug for the sewer pipe with a slope of 2 cm. The pipe is being laid. The trench is filled with sand and soil.

Step 10 Drain wells are installed.

Step 11 River gravel is poured along the contour of the foundation and slightly beyond it (30 cm). The gravel is compacted.

Step 12 Drainage trenches are dug 60 cm from the future walls with a slope of 1 cm from the walls. Geotextiles, crushed stone, and a pipe are laid, which is filled with crushed stone. All this is covered with sand and compacted with water.

Step 13 Formwork is assembled to pour the foundation.

Step 14 In accordance with the diagram, polystyrene foam is laid and fixed with glue.

Step 15 Reinforcement is being laid - foundation reinforcement.

Step 16 Pipes for connecting heating and water supply are being laid.

Step 17 Warm floors are laid in accordance with the diagram. Step - 15 cm, 10 contours. They are attached to the fittings using plastic clamps.

Step 18 The foundation is being poured with concrete.

Further work can be carried out when the concrete has dried (about 15-28 days).

Stage 3. Construction of walls

Step 1. They are brought to the construction site aerated concrete blocks, are stored temporarily around a previously poured foundation. For external and load-bearing walls blocks of size 375x625x250 mm will be used, for internal ones that do not experience heavy loads - 250x625x250 mm. Floor slabs - 8 pieces - are also delivered to the site. sizes 1200x5000 mm and 8 1200x6600 mm. Purchase trowels, glue, and a plane, which will be useful for laying aerated concrete.

Step 2. Waterproofing is laid on the concrete foundation under the first row of aerated concrete blocks. Construction of both the perimeter of the house and the internal walls is immediately underway.

Step 3. Then rows 3 and 9 of aerated concrete are reinforced - a groove is made into which the reinforcement is inserted, and then glue is poured.

Step 4. Openings for windows and doors are formed. Above the windows and doorways U-blocks are laid, and inside they have a frame of 4 connected reinforcing rods.

Step 5. Reinforced lintels are installed above the door openings that will be inside the house.

Step 6. By the way, points 4 and 5 are the stages of formation of the armored belt of the structure. Next, a wall made of extruded polystyrene foam will be installed along the gables; inside it will have a frame made of reinforcement, to which the reinforcement outlets for the corners will be welded. The latter will later hold the balcony. The armored belt is filled with concrete.

The process of creating an armored belt

Step 7 To lay the floor slabs, you will need a crane. The slabs are laid close to each other on an armored belt covered with cement and reinforcement.

Step 8 From metal corners With a thickness of about 7 mm and dimensions of 100x100x1500 mm, outlets for the balcony are formed. The structure is poured with concrete.

Step 9 The timber is laid on a waterproofing layer.

Step 10 During the process of laying the timber, the roof gable is immediately formed. After assembly wooden frame the wood is treated with Neomid, an antiseptic and bleach.

Step 11 The roof is being assembled. Since its angle is very small, the slopes will be quite long (the length of the rafters is 7.7 m, the dimensions of the rafter board are 200x50 mm). They may have to be increased. The distance between the rafters should be no more than 60 cm. The dimensions of the board for the counter-lattice are 100x25 mm.

Step 12 Canopies-extensions of 1.5 and 2 m are formed. Extensions are also made along the slopes - 1.5 m each.

Step 13 Visible parts of rafters and other roof parts are sanded and painted.

Chalet-style buildings originated in southeastern France and the mountains of Switzerland. Initially, this was a shepherd's house, where he could take refuge from bad weather at any time. Typically, such buildings were built from wood, but today combined chalet houses made from a combination of stone and wood are very popular. These houses are especially valued for their strength, reliability, environmental friendliness and extraordinary beauty. A modern chalet house is by no means a shepherd’s house, but a respectable cottage or villa, which are most often built in expensive ski resorts or as a home for permanent residence in a picturesque, mountainous area.

Style Features

Chalet house designs can be easily distinguished by their characteristic features:

  • The basement of the house or the entire first floor is made of natural stone (brick is used less often).
  • A special style is given to the structure by a gable, pointed roof with large overhangs, supports and cantilever beams. To balance the massive roof overhangs, the first floor of the structure is made quite squat and wide.
  • On the site, such a house is installed according to the cardinal directions. As a result, the main façade of the structure should always face east. The design of living rooms is done taking into account sufficient insolation of the room by sunlight.
  • The space under the massive developed roof does not remain unused. Often settles here attic floor, often in the living room there is a second light, internal balconies. Balconies and terraces are conveniently located under the external roof overhang.
  • The combined chalet house is built only from natural materials. Usually, in combination with natural stone, glued and profiled timber, rounded and untreated logs are used. Modern finishing materials are not used at all in the interior and exterior of such a building.
  • One more characteristic feature This style can be called an abundance of glazing, namely large windows, panoramic glazing, floor-to-ceiling windows.
  • In modern combined houses chalets are often equipped with glazed or open terraces, balconies, awnings, winter gardens and so on. All of them allow you to balance the massive roof of the house, visually expanding the first floor.

People began to combine stone and wood in chalets back in ancient times. This technique was used to protect wooden structures from wetness, rot, mold. The durable and strong stone reliably insulated the wooden part of the building, thanks to which the service life of the structure only increased.

Chalet house projects

In addition to the exterior of a chalet-style house, its interior should also emphasize the rustic simplicity of the style and functionality. Choosing projects combined houses chalet, you should pay attention to the following nuances of such buildings:

  1. If the first floor of such a house is made of stone, then the second and attic floors are characterized by the use of large-sized wooden wall elements (logs, beams). However, sometimes the second floor of a combined chalet house is made of brick, because it is a fairly strong and durable material.
  2. Chalet house designs usually include a ground floor, especially if the house is located on the terrain. The basement floor will not necessarily include utility and utility rooms, here you can arrange a cozy living room or kitchen.
  3. The interior decoration is dominated only by natural materials. The walls are whitewashed and plaster, the floor is made of wood. There can't even be any hint of ultra-modern decor.
  4. Quite often, the attic occupies part of the space under the roof; the rest of the under-roof space serves as a second light in the living room. Usually the windows in such a room are made to the floor. And the roof slopes with exposed rafters of a contrasting color serve as the ceiling in such a living room.
  5. A fireplace can be considered an invariable attribute of any chalet home. Moreover, the massive fireplace chimney is part of the building’s exterior and is also decorated with natural stone. Naturally, the fireplace is located in the spacious living room so that you can enjoy the surrounding landscape through panoramic windows and warm yourself by the fire in a cozy chair.

Of course, a modern chalet house can be made entirely of wood, stone or brick by choosing the appropriate cladding for the facade. But in this case, it will cease to be a chalet house, its originality will be lost, which is especially noticeable when combining materials. Thanks to the skillful combination of textures and colors of stone and wood, such a house can be given any ethnic shade and emphasize its characteristic historical features.

IN modern houses chalets often use improved materials with a long service life, best characteristics and a more reasonable price. For example, instead of natural stone, the first and basement floors are made of aerated concrete, which can subsequently be lined and obtain an equally attractive surface, reminiscent natural stone. However, in terms of price and speed of installation, if you use aerated concrete, you will only benefit.

Instead of rounded or unprocessed logs, it is advantageous to use glued and profiled timber for the installation of the second and attic floors. They do not shrink as much, are faster and easier to install, and also have better thermal insulation characteristics. Moreover, if you use these materials, you do not need to do interior decoration, because the smooth, beautiful surface of these elements allows you to get ideal walls.

Advantages of houses

  1. The combination of two materials when building a chalet allows you to get significant benefits, because they do not have the disadvantages that exist when using one material. For example, stone walls need careful insulation and do not allow air to pass through well. However, since only the first floor is made of stone, on the plan of which there is usually a kitchen, bathrooms, living room, hall, laundry room, garage, boiler room and sauna - in a word, all those rooms in which people do not stay constantly, then such properties of the stone are only to their advantage.
  2. But the second and attic floors should be warmer, more comfortable, with a favorable microclimate. These are the qualities that natural wood gives to bedrooms, children's rooms and an office located on this floor. At the same time, at such a height from the surface of the earth, wood is not afraid high humidity and mold from the proximity of groundwater, seasonal soil movements and freezing of the ground, because the timber is reliably protected from all this stone walls first floor.
  3. Wood is responsible for natural air exchange, regulates humidity in the room and saturates the air with beneficial phytoncides and pleasant aroma. Moreover, on the second floor, under the protection of large roof overhangs, this unique and beautiful material will retain its attractiveness and properties for a long time.
  4. The construction of a completely wooden house costs less financially than the construction of a building made of natural or artificial stone material. But compared to wood, a brick or stone house is more durable. Therefore, when choosing combined chalet houses, we find a middle ground - immediately getting durability, strength and cost savings.
  5. If you choose aerated concrete and timber to build such a house, then the box can be built in a few weeks. At the same time, the shrinkage time of such a structure is insignificant, so you will not have to take a long pause before moving in and finishing the house.
  6. Since the second floor of the house has little weight due to the used wall material, having performed the correct calculation of the foundation, you can use its lightweight version and not make an expensive, powerful foundation.

Interior

Since the chalet is the style of Alpine shepherds, it is characterized by practicality and simplicity in everything. The main attributes of this style in the interior are open ceiling beams and supports saturated dark color. They should stand out in contrast against a more light walls. As we have already said, a fireplace with an open fire and large windows allow you to achieve unity with nature and harmony. When decorating the interior of a house, they should only be used natural materials natural colors.

This style is characterized by the use of the following techniques in interior decoration:

  • To process all wooden elements, special compounds are used that give them a rich color, but do not hide the wood texture.
  • Often, an aged, worn look is intentionally given to interior details and furniture to emphasize style.
  • Wooden finishes can be used not only on the floor, but also on the ceiling. Stone inserts are often used in wall decoration. Entire wall fragments can be designed this way.
  • If plastered and whitewashed walls seem uncomfortable to you, you can cover them with wood.
  • To emphasize the naturalness of the material, the boards flooring They are not painted, but treated with oil.
  • The colors of furniture and textiles should be as close as possible to natural tones.

The chalet style has an amazing history that dates back several centuries ago. The word "chalet" is translated from French like a "shepherd's hut". The birthplace of this beautiful style is the province of Savoy, located on the border between Italy and Switzerland, where local shepherds actively settled on the snow-covered Alpine slopes. They built, although it would be more correct to say, they simply “assembled” small and cozy, but very strong houses from scrap materials. For this purpose, mainly stone and wood were used. These are the houses that were the first chalets. Given the very harsh climate and difficult terrain conditions, people sought to design extremely durable housing that could provide complete protection from wind, snow and other precipitation, as well as wild animals.

The modern, familiar appearance of the chalet began to take shape around the fifties of the twentieth century. Moreover, thanks to the active popularization of ski tourism, this style has become a real business card mountains As a result, the exceptional simplicity, maximum practicality and amazing comfort of the chalet contributed to its progressive development. Now all over the world you can see private houses made in this style.

What features does the chalet style have? 7 main features

Chalet style houses are unique. They have whole line individual characteristics, among which the following points should be highlighted:

1. Multi-level architecture. This feature is primarily due to the mountainous terrain in which this style originated.

2. The ground floor is quite high and made of stone. In turn, the second floor is necessarily wooden. The standard layout of chalet houses provides:

  • on the ground floor there is an entrance hall, a kitchen, a bathroom, as well as various utility rooms;
  • on the ground floor there is a children's room, bedroom, bathroom and dressing room; rest rooms;
  • in the attic there is an office and guest rooms.

Please note that the most fire hazardous rooms are located on the ground floor. This solution guarantees maximum safety at home.

3. Gable roof . It has a slight slope and wide overhangs that protect the walls and foundation from precipitation. The slope, in turn, ensures the gradual descent of snow, thereby preventing its possible avalanche fall. In addition, thanks to this constructive solution A snow cap forms on the roof, keeping the house warm in winter.

4. Balconies reliably protected by wide overhangs. Stay on them as comfortably as possible throughout all year round and regardless of the weather.

5. Large and quite spacious terraces. They can overhang or simply rest on columns.

6. Using predominantly wide or panoramic windows.

7. Complete unity of exterior and interior.

In general, we can say that chalet-style houses are extremely interesting and attractive with their own architecture and interior. They represent the embodiment of complete comfort, exceptional harmony and unique romanticism.

Chalet-style houses take their origins from the houses of Norman peasants who lived in northern France in Normandy around the 14th-15th centuries. Usually, when a project is being drawn up, a chalet house is designed as a one-story house, but the construction of a chalet-style house may involve two or even more floors. Rarely found pure wooden houses in the chalet style, they are usually combined: the lower parts of the house are stone, the upper parts are wooden.

Chalet style features

The main features of chalet-style houses can be defined as follows:

In chalet houses, the second floor or attic part is usually built from timber, if the house is one-story

Features of chalet houses made of brick and wood

It was already stated above that the design of a chalet house usually involves the use of a stone bottom and a wooden top. But it is best to use brick for the lower part of the house.

What will be the advantages of such a house:

Typically, such houses require a large terrace
  • Brick is an absolutely non-flammable material. That is why it is preferable to use it in the houses described. Has anyone ever wondered why there are houses like this at ski resorts? The fact is that on the ground floor there is always a stone or a stove installed there. If we are talking about permanent housing, then a fireplace will help little: a boiler is needed here. So, in the case where the design of a chalet house with a garage involves a first floor made of brick, then on the first floor the fire may well be open, without the need for additional protection. The material is brick, and wooden houses do not allow anyone to use an open flame in them on the first floors;
  • Durability. Entirely wooden houses assume that their crown will be in direct contact with the ground: fungus, mold, rot, moisture, of course, will also be present. This a priori cannot happen in a chalet: the wood comes into contact only with the stone, that is, directly with the second part of the house, and not with the ground. Therefore, you can simply forget about mold and other unpleasant consequences.

When building chalet houses, you can avoid expensive high foundations, as is the case with wooden houses: brick and other types of similar building materials perfectly retain moisture.

Theoretically, if we take into account the cost of building materials (without associated costs), then the advantage of a chalet made of brick and wood can also be called cost-effectiveness. Why?

Example of a first floor plan for a chalet style house

Just completely brick house, naturally, will cost much more than a combined one. In addition, you can make a real terrace in the chalet (without it, this style cannot be such at all).

But the costs of building the roof and roof covering will already be significant - this must be admitted. By the way, in the Alps, either traditional tiles (real ones, not corrugated sheets) or shingles are usually used as roofing material. Both of these materials are quite heavy, so the load-bearing part of the roof will have to be further strengthened in any case.

Detailed design of a one-story chalet-style residential building

Foundation arrangement

The construction of the described house involves the following stages:

It is not worthwhile to completely disassemble each stage of construction: any combined house will be built exactly the same as the most ordinary one. The most important thing regarding exclusively chalet style: here Special attention You need to pay attention to the foundation and insulation. This is something worth talking about in more detail.

For the houses described, two types of foundations are used:

  1. tape;
  2. tiled.

Considering the climatic conditions of Russia, it is better to give preference strip foundation, since it is simply more durable. Typically a strip monolithic foundation is used.

Example of a strip foundation device

It is not at all necessary to make it reinforced: only half of the house consists of stone, the second part is much lighter.

Gutters in a chalet house are almost never provided for when projects are drawn up: given that the roof is gable and has a projection, the water will simply drain from it without falling on the house itself and without destroying it from the inside.

The only thing that needs to be taken into account when building a foundation is that it must be buried. According to Russian engineering standards (which almost completely correspond to the old Soviet ones), the depth of the foundation for a residential building must be at least 0.5 meters.

Drawing modern chalet with interior

In the case of combined houses, the depth should be at least 1.5 meters. This required condition, which cannot be ignored under any circumstances.

Insulation of the house

Wall insulation is almost always carried out using the so-called “ventilated facade” technology. What you need to know when insulating brickwork:

The facade of the house is ventilated

If desired, instead of covering you can use facing brick. It’s worth saying right away that the facing brick should be at least a quarter (maximum one third) thicker than the main brick that was used in construction. Such cladding will make the insulation of the house even more effective.

In combined houses, it is necessary to use a ventilated facade: any stone structure must “breathe”, otherwise the presence of fungi, mold and other unpleasant “surprises” will be ensured after 3-4 months after the start of operation of the house.

If the building is one-story (for example, in the basement there is a garage, and the residential part is only on the second floor), then facing bricks do not need to be used: it will be quite simple decorative cladding the simplest finishing materials.

In chalet houses, water vapor is not allowed to reach the insulation

In general, with regard to the insulation of such a house, it is necessary to take into account what technology was used to build the second floor and what materials for its construction the technical design required:

Beam - best option for chalets
  1. Projects for frame technology. It is usually used in Western Europe, since such houses are energy efficient and heat saving. The main thing here is that the insulation is completely isolated from water vapor;
  2. Unplaned timber. Its main advantage is that exterior decoration could be virtually anyone. And the “ventilated facade” already described above is ideal as insulation;
  3. Rounded logs. For Alpine chalets their use is uncharacteristic, but for Russian architecture it is. Only the logs need to be caulked very well. From an energy efficiency point of view, such houses are not very good. But it’s beautiful!;
  4. Glued laminated timber. The most elite, expensive option. You can also insulate the second floor of laminated timber using ventilated facade technology.

Home interior design

The main feature of the interior of houses in this style is naturalness and naturalness. For example, everyone wooden beams, parts of the house remain the same as they were during construction.

The interior of the chalet should emphasize naturalness and comfort

The only thing: they can be painted with varnish or stain of any color. In the interior it is customary to use decorative elements made of natural or natural stone.

What's happened classic interior chalet? On the ground floor, in the center there is usually a rug in the shape of an animal skin (and even better if this skin is real). In the corner, like a real hunter, hangs the head of a deer or other animal.

In the fireplace part, a kind of panel is made of stones. The main thing is that there is no “gypsyism”. In fact, the interior should look like a sort of hunting lodge, lost somewhere on the southern slope of Mont Blanc. None bright colors It absolutely shouldn't be. Otherwise, the whole point of building such a house will be reduced to zero.

Bright colors can only be used for furniture upholstery

Furniture is usually upholstered with unpainted textiles. The ideal option would be a slightly rough, baggy cloth (if anyone remembers Crime and Punishment, then one of the heroines used a draped scarf - this is exactly the kind of fabric that will be used for drapeds ideal option for upholstery).

To diversify the interior in terms of color, you can use muted brown, dark burgundy colors, purple is also quite acceptable. As for furniture, there are no particularly strict rules: you can use anything, even the most unusual and bright furniture from modern designers.
